me and my brother have been riding are yamaha ttr125 for a while now and we want to get into racing so we need to buy a race bike but i dont know what size to get.
Im almost 16 and im about 5'7, 5'8 and my brother is 12 and he is about 5'5 maybe 5'4. we don't have enough money for two bikes, so we need one that we can both race.
I was thinking a honda crf150r because i think an 85 would be too small for me. any suggestions would be great.

A 125 would be better. you are to bog for an 85, your brother will just grow into the 125. I would say any 125 you cant go wrong, they are pretty cheap used.

a 125 is pretty big. I would suggest a kx100 they are a good medium seat height

a 125 is a full sized bike as mentioned above.  Your little brother will have some height issues for sure on it (unless he has some crazy inseem :banghead: ).  That being said, he is 12 and will grow into it.  I am 5'3 and ride my 2 125s and a 250f.  Both of my 125s have a lowering link (1") which helped me a lot... never knew 1" was such a huge difference hah.  The 250f is re-sprung and valved for my weight and riding style (or lack there of), so it also helps quite a lot, along with a custom .75" cut seat from jeff@SDG.  Unfortunately, your little bro seems to be at the stage where a full sized bike will be 'too big' kind of for a little while, as in it sucks to try to tiptoe on, but as mentioned he would ride into it.  I would suggest a 125 as well, they are great bikes to learn on IMO, and the most fun MX bike ever:D  Again though, your little brother is going to have some issues with ti size-wise... but getting a smaller bike that you will BOTH outgrow  sooner then later would not be the ideal choice I'd think.

best thign to do though woudl be try to get both of you on a full sized bike to see how it is for you guys.

The best motocross racer of all time is 5'4". Your brother shouldn't have any issues with a 125. It may feel a bit tall, but he will grow into it.

No dude, I'm 17 5'8 and I have a KX250 and its a bit stiff feeling at first but all you need is either lower the suspension a bit or get the seat "cut"

I'm 5'6", and while I'd rather ride an 85 big wheel wheel in the woods, my 125's have been just fine for motocross after I got some seat time. If you guys are going to grow more in the next year or so I'd probably go for a 125 2 stroke. Good luck!

Get a 125 and get a low seat. I am like 5'6 and with a regular seat i can touch the ground enough to not fall and can start my own bike. My friend is about 5'4 and he has a 2012 KTM150SX he just put a low seat on it and lowered the suspension a little and it took him a little to get used to but he was fine. A 125 is probly the best idea.

get a 125, im 5'5'' and 123 lbs and ride a 250f. You'll only be able to ride a kx100 for another year cause i think once your 17 or 18 they make you move up a class.(depending on where you race)
