Bike is in the shop as we speak. I brought the bike with the oil still in the engine along with the previous oil in a bottle along with a sample from my uni (got some friends to convince the chem lecturer to sample the oil with results). Hopefully I could get a new injector under warranty as I was told by the dealer to see if that fixes the problem.

We have suffered this issue with every injected CRF that we have owned, 2010 CRF250, 2011 CRF450, 2 x 2012 CRF250's. You may not think you have fuel in your oil because most of the time the levels don't change much. Trust me, do the burn test like the video on this post shows and you'll have it. It can only really slowly sneak in through the injector not seating correctly, the fuel pump does not allow any fuel to syphon whilst it's not running. You are basically getting whats left in the line dribbling through the injector. We were told every story known to man, its' bad rings, its not being warmed up properly, it's from blipping the throttle, it's from the fuel pump holding pressure, it's from crap stuck in the injector, it's from not being left on TDC, It's a mapping issue.
Reality is, fuel is getting into the oil, we change oil every race meeting to beat the problem.
Until Honda accept liability (don't hold your breath) and fix the problem, it won't go away.
As previously stated, if you want to prove its a leaking injector, unscrew the throttle body from the boot and pull it back just enough so a gap allows the fuel to drip out and either video it or catch it in a container  to prove it.
You then might have a very very slim chance of getting something replaced under warranty.

mine definitely leaks like crazy. I leave it at tdc but when kicked for the first time it just dumps all the gas and then i lose compression

Is anybody with a 2012 with the gas in oil problem had any crank issues like the 2010 crf250r did?

If gas leaks into the oil why would the oil level not show an increase on the dipstick?

Good question, on the 450, it tends to show a substantial increase at times but the 250's it's not much movement. Remember your oil naturally burns a little and I guess some fuel is evaporating too, maybe taking with it some oil. It slowly dilutes if you don't change the oil alot and tends to get thinner too.

Do you think a Vortex would solve the issue?

vortex piston or map?

I was thinking today. What if we stored the bikes with the front tire about 6 feet in the air with the back tire hanging near the floor that way all the gas would drain into the air box! :)

LOL.  I had a 2012 250sxf that didn't even make 10 hrs.  Went back for warranty work 3x.  After the 3rd time, they finally found out what was wrong with it; flogged a valve guide out.  2 exhaust valves, guides, cam chain all replaced under warranty.  After I got it back it, it would cut out for no reason.  Something wrong with the efi so traded it in on a Honda.  Done 20hrs on the crf250 with no dramas.  Change oil every 5 hrs.

Well at least ktm is trying to fix problems. Unlike Honda where they just try to tell you it's your fault and you are doing something wrong.

Agreed, ktm warranty is exceptional but too many things go wrong with their 4 strokes.

I just recently went through this with my 450. There was so much fuel in the oil when I would pull the dip stick oil would poor out like it was under pressure. After doing much research on this problem I sent my injector off to a guy in Florida to test it (trying to save a few bucks) and he said it was stuck open. He charged me 15 bucks including shipping to service it (clean it and put a charge on it to repair the stuck injector). Initially it worked but after about the 4th ride the oil was back to being full. I bit the bullet and purchased a brand new injector. So far I have about 10 rides on it and the oil level is fine. If there is gas in the oil... It's not much. Seemingly the new injector fixed the problem, but for how long. Hopefully Honda will at least offer an upgraded part (like they did for the fuel pump problems) I don't mind paying for it. I just want a bike that works. The guy that said we asked for race bikes couldn't have been more correct.  I love being able to clear 100 ft. jumps with less than 15 ft of running room. But it comes at a cost. My recommendations... Get a new injector.  sorry for the dissertation =)

Where did you buy this new injector? Was it another stock injector? Price?

Yes you have to buy OEM.  I get a discout at my dealer but I payed 90 bucks for it.  It's not that bad. Without the discout it would have been 120.

I always find fuel in the breather catch tube, without fail after EVERY ride.  When checking the engine oil level and smelling for fuel, however, I don't see any evidence of gas in the oil.  To be safe, I change the oil every 2 rides.

In other 4 cycle racing engines I've had experience with, getting fuel (alcohol in those cases) in the oil was a given, and changing it every 1-2 races was required.  Perhaps for different reasons though.

Same with me. I get gas or what ever it is in the crankcase breather tube every ride but have not had any fuel in my oil. My mechanic was saying the harder the bike is ridden the more liquad there will be in the tube.

Get a Tokyo Mods Engine Vent kit for $35 and you'll never empty that tube again, and your air box will be a lot cleaner too.
