My bike broke down a while back and I took it apart to realize I over tightened the cam cap. It damaged my head and scuffed up my cams quite a bit. I bought a new head and my dad (owns a machine shop) turned the cams and cleaned them up.

My question is should I stick with these cams or buy new ones?

what you could do is have someone like crower regrind your cams and end up with greater lift and a new surface too.  basically they recenter the cam so it looses some radius at the minimum and then you will have to use thicker shims and although your lift may decrease by the amount that has to come off the high lift portion to get rid of the damage, you would still get higher overall lift.  However, that is probably as expensive as buying a new set of OEM cams, they are not too expensive.

Gotcha.  Thanks for the reply.  I may have found a set of working cams that may work for my bike.
