Did anybody else catch that.........nobody in SWEDEN has ever been injured wearing a leatt brace. He even has a signed document stating that. Wonder why he didnt say how many in the USA or other countries have been injured wearing a brace. Im not gonna say if they work or dont......honestly I dont care. But this is a company trying to sell a product. I have a hard time believing their results. Now if DOT comes out with some testing results I might take a look.

http://www.thumperta...in sweden  That is what he's talking about, I think anyway. Pretty much telling everyone that it wasnt the leatts fault. The same way that no one can prove that the leatt saved them, they cant say that the leatt has caused any injuries because there's no way to prove it. So technically hes right

Way back when there were some people claiming that using full face Bell Moto style helmets could, and did cause broken necks. Just thought I would throw that out there :banghead:

Bingo! I was talking to a buddy about the braces and he said " just think of how many people have been riding for years without the braces, why would I get one?" I said " let's go back to carbs in cars, lets go back to 3/4 face helmets, let's go back to the dual shocks, so the point being things are inproving" this is my 2 cents but I think the main point is that if people don't like them then why don't they just not wear them? There's a thought!

^^ Exactly.  I dont know why people think their judgement has to apply to everyone else.  Its the same line of thinking that wants to outlaw toys in happy meals.

I like the idea of a neck brace but, I think the current concept is flawed and needs to be throughly tested.  Then you have those out there that are calling for neck braces to be mandatory, and without independent lab testing and certification that the damn things actually do what they claim I will never wear one.

It is good that Leatt is finally, after 5 years, going to actually show some proof.  Lets just hope its the truth and not smoke and mirrors marketing.

Im not judging anybody. If you want to wear one fine. Id just like to see an independent source test and verify all the claims that the manufactures are making. We have people testing cars right? They test helmets right? all to prove they are manufactured correctly to keep us safe so how come nobody is doing the same for neck braces? Trust me........I want one. I want to do everything I can to remain safe. I just dont want to take a companies word for it that their product is safe and doesnt cause injuries. Heres an example.....would you strap your newborn baby in a car seat that wasnt approved? How about a crib? Im getting to a point in my old age where I question everything.

What i dont understand is that the manufacturers themselves are not pushing for independent testing to prove their products are safe. You would think with all the buzz about them being unsafe that the companies would be searching for a lab willing to test their products. Using your own data from your own lab doesnt cut it. Thats like GM saying their truck gets 65 mpg.....see here is the data but you probably wouldnt be able to understand it. Thats why there is independent testing.....keeps people honest.

I want nothing more than for people to be as safe as possible when doing our sport which is pretty darn dangerous as it is.  That is why I keep preaching independent testing and industry standardization just like there is with helmets.

I agree that being safe when riding mx is by far #1, so I really hope neck braces are the next step in making mx safer. And you are correct about leatt might be having a bias toward their product. But I think most would agree that Dr. Leatt wants the best for people, as someone who is going into the medical feild I will tell you that is money is the reason why people go in the medical feild they are crazy. The process to of becoming any kind of Dr. is insane!! So I truly believe that Dr. Leatt is just trying to help riders because he is a caring doctor. However just because he has good intentions doesn't mean that the product does, so I really do see both sides. We demand facts!!!! Lol
