damn guys. he did qualify. had a rough day but damn give him some credit.

Yep, I think when I looked at the timing booth at Hangtown, he was litsed either 12th or 16th best qualifier. I cant remeber for sure. Either way he was in top 20 and thats good!!

Rough day for sure, but plenty of 20 years olds couldnt crack the top 20 or even qualify. Got to still give it to him, he is fast. Would have liked to see him battle.

Just watched the video on TransWorld as Ryan's shadow.

an "A" for effort on ryans part.
Loved his mentality behind trying Hangtown.

Funny, he dosn't like the Yamaha either......"maybe I'll be back next year....on a different bike"

He said that the Yamaha bit him. Maybe they should remove the teeth on next years model

So at this point, does anyone think Yamaha is going to take notice that everyone hates their bikes and change something? The whole backwards engine thing in the 450's and the cross-plain crank in the R1 seem to not be going over very well with a lot of riders.

They are three years into that model so I would expect some changes on the 2013 other than little tweaks and BNG

I have seen the 2013 Honda's and the KTM's....which are all new designs....but no other major brand. We know Kawasaki isn't changing anything but Suzuki and Yamaha might be or at least should be

I've ridden "most" of the big brands and to be honest, the Hondas feel best for me. I'm sure that's personal preference though. The only YZ450F I've ever ridden was an '05 and while it felt OK, it felt "big" for some reason. I'm only 5' 6" so any bike that feels "big" is too big for me.

I had an 06 YZ450 and it pushed in the corners for me and I couldn't fix it. If it did that for me what was it doing for Langston? If you remember he switched to the 08 in the middle of the 2007 Nationals because it handled better

I like the Suzuki because it handles so quick and I thought I would like the new Honda's but I didn't. Just goes to show that even the slow guys can tell what works for them

Heck, just look at RV when he switch from an 2011 to 2012 at the end of the season.
What happened there?

I agree that riding a bike is a certain percentage mental.
BUT ergonomics and frame geometry is a BIG part of being comfortable on a bike.
If things feel awkward while you ride or get in your way of how you like to position your body, then you'll never get comfy with it.
Just is!!

He went over the bars riding a Yamaha right in front me on the first downhill after the big uphill and crashed in the second turn at the beginning of one of the moto's. He would have been better off riding something else. The Yamaha did not work for him! I bet he was asking himself Y after the race.........

yep , anytime someone crashes on a yamaha , it is in no way shape or form the riders fault.

Would have had the same results with any other bike. Has he ever liked a bike he raced? I remember him knocking Factory KTM when he rode for them.
