My kick starter is wore out and am buying a new one. I c they are for k1-k4  and k5-k6 so there diffenrt two differnt models.
Is the newer one for k5-k6 redesigned so it works better at keeping it  from breaking ?
I thought i read that somewhere let me know. Also will the 05 and on kickstarter fit onto a 2003 without any problem my guess is yes ?

Just a recap went down and ordered a new kick starter lever and he said the new ones part number over rides the old one so there the same

Exact same situation here.  My 03 broke and I found a used 05 on Ebay... the 05 is better because the foot-rest end is further away from the motor (when flipped outward.)  It's easier to kick and isn't prone to hitting the footpeg so hard.
