I don't know if that is completely true. A few years back I saw a Husky TC250 trying to make qualifying time at Hangtown during practice (one of Husky's enduro racers, cant remember his name). There is also "rumors" that John Dowd "may" do a couple races on a Husky TC450. And.... back in 2000 to 2001, Husqvarna had a National and Supercross race team.
Or....maybe it is some new stupid AMA rule. They race Husky's in Europe on the GP series. Hell, even Husaberg had won titles in Europe in the GP's. It's all very convoluded to me!

Dietrich can't even keep his shit together long enough to stay in the EWC. He packed up and came back to the States citing personal reasons. How could he possibly hold it together for AMA Nationals?

I pulled that info right out of the 2012 AMA Motocross rule book page

Just curious how and why that rule came about. If you meet the displacement, db levels and other regulations and you are a "major" brand, why not be eligable? Does it state the requirments?

I'm sure that they didn't go through the homologation process. Not sure if it cost anything but if the AMA is involved you know it does

Here is an old article but a good one

So basiclly it comes down to manufactures like Husqvarna not submitting for homologation at all. From the way the article reads, as long as they have 400 units in market on dealer floors by March 1st which in "theory" would have made them eligable for the 2012 Nationals since they did have them on dealer floors..... It's also obvious that this AMA rule is for MX/SX only and does not apply to the GNCC or other enduro racing series within the AMA. But let's face the music here, bikes like Husqvarna, Husaberg, TM, Beta and GasGas are phenominal "off-road" race bikes, just not MX or SX bikes. Which makes perfect sense because these companies concentrate on the off road world, not closed mx/sx track racing.

Good read....

I read that the GNCC pulled away from the AMA. They decided that they didn't need them in order to run their series. If you look at the top of the page in my link you won't see any off road series other than Motocross and ATV's

The AMA is close to their end IMO

I'm a bit confused by the "approved machines" list... This IS the year 2012 right?

*example I'm referring to*

Motorcycles MX/SX Lites Motocross/Supercross

Yamaha 2006-2009 YZ 125 2006-2010 YZ 250
Yamaha 2006-2011 YZ 250F* 2006-2011 YZ 450F

So they're only approved to run last years bikes? Suzuki and Honda also say "2011". I see they take the other 2 strokes and chop them off at the knees as well, mainly in the lights class, but I would like to see that KTM 250SX line up!

Let's hope. It's a worthless organization when it comes to mx. They reap the dollars from it but do nothing to build up the sport.

All the bikes on the list can enter the AMA nationals
its only the supercross thats limited to the bikes with a *
thats why you saw Renner on a shitty YZ125 and not a KTM

I wonder if it's because those models didn't have any significant changes for 2012 so they didn't need to go through the approval process. The race team can run 2011 spec frames and engine cases without loosing any advantage

All the bikes that are new for 2012 are highlighted red

Ah didn't think about that. Those ARE the most changed bikes for this year.

So if I wanted to race a TC449, as a privateer and the "manufacturer" didn't have 400 of these bikes on the show room floors, I couldn't race, even if it was as 2012 model?

And to meyermetal..I thought you needed an AMA membership card to race gncc's??
