I don't know if that is completely true. A few years back I saw a Husky TC250 trying to make qualifying time at Hangtown during practice (one of Husky's enduro racers, cant remember his name). There is also "rumors" that John Dowd "may" do a couple races on a Husky TC450. And.... back in 2000 to 2001, Husqvarna had a National and Supercross race team.
Or....maybe it is some new stupid AMA rule. They race Husky's in Europe on the GP series. Hell, even Husaberg had won titles in Europe in the GP's. It's all very convoluded to me!

I pulled that info right out of the 2012 AMA Motocross rule book page

I'm sure that they didn't go through the homologation process. Not sure if it cost anything but if the AMA is involved you know it does
Here is an old article but a good one

The AMA is close to their end IMO
Posted 10 May 2012 - 03:04 PM
*example I'm referring to*
Motorcycles MX/SX Lites Motocross/Supercross
Yamaha 2006-2009 YZ 125 2006-2010 YZ 250
Yamaha 2006-2011 YZ 250F* 2006-2011 YZ 450F
So they're only approved to run last years bikes? Suzuki and Honda also say "2011". I see they take the other 2 strokes and chop them off at the knees as well, mainly in the lights class, but I would like to see that KTM 250SX line up!

Let's hope. It's a worthless organization when it comes to mx. They reap the dollars from it but do nothing to build up the sport.

its only the supercross thats limited to the bikes with a *
thats why you saw Renner on a shitty YZ125 and not a KTM

I wonder if it's because those models didn't have any significant changes for 2012 so they didn't need to go through the approval process. The race team can run 2011 spec frames and engine cases without loosing any advantage
All the bikes that are new for 2012 are highlighted red
