Plug and Play lighting harness for EFI YZ450F

Recommended Posts

Yeah, forgot about the capacitor deal, not good. How about this, what if you swapped out your kill switch so that it was one of those kind that rotate between on and off rather than the button? Could you not then have a separate circuit run from a battery to the light without the worry of the battery loading the capacitor? I'm thinking you would need two switches for the light, one from the efi system and another from the battery. The problem would be that if you forgot to turn off the battery switch while the bike was running or forgot to make sure the kill switch was in the off position when the bike was not running (and the battery to light switch was on)....bad things could happen. Kinda like if you crossed the streams in ghost busters.......it would be bad.

I don't see anything on the Baja Designs website about this product. The links that were originally posted also do not work.

Does anyone have any updates? Was this product discontinued? I hope not as I really want this to work for my '10 YZ-450 F!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

That would be the one ;-) Thanks!

Unfortunately that was probably one of the easiest parts of the whole process. Now comes making my bike street legal. Cant wait to be ripping up the streets of SF! Haven't seen any YZ's in SF...

Out of curiosity, has anyone been able to pass emissions testing with an EFI bike in Arizona or anywhere else for that matter? My plan was to register the bike in Arizona with one of my family members and then just ride it in CA with the AZ plate. The only shitty thing is that I would have to get the bike emissions tested 1X/year (but I guess that could be an excuse to do some desert riding).

I was reading that it is more difficult to get an EFI bike to pass than a carb bike (which I find hard to believe). Are there specific maps out there for passing emissions? I will do a little digging around in the maps sticky thread.

Thanks for the help!

I am planning on picking up one of these harnesses to get a headlight going and was just wondering if there is a way to tie in a tail/brake light or if there is another harness Baja offers that i just have not been able to find when searching.

Hopefully they ship it soon and I'll post some pics

I also bought the Tusk lighting kit with a battery.

I'm planning on keeping the two systems separate based on the advise of someone I spoke to at Baja design and another guy at SAR offroad.

I built a STREET LEGAL 2011  YZ 450! It can be done:

I used a Polisport headlight with high, low and running lights, Polisport rear taillight,

Rocky mountain ATV wiring harness, horn, LED signal relay

extreme dual sport turnsignals

Baja  Designs handlebar switch.

Pro Moto Billet kickstand

Trail Tech vapor computer with all the mounting hardware.

Did it on my own a few months ago with a bike that I retired from racing.  Baja Designs is missing it on this one, and told me it cannot be done.

I used all LED lights but the headlight.  The headlight I run on the running lamp (4 watts) and the Turn signals run maybe .5 watts from what EDS told me. Then I installed a LED brake light.  Total draw on the system during the day is maybe 7 or 8 watts.

It has a plate and inspection, so it is road worthy as any CBR 600 RR on the road.  I can still hit the MX track with it if I want.

Took about 5 hours to do, about a year to find all the stuff.

I got my plate Tuesday.

I used a WR tusk universal enduro lighting harness.

Trail Tech kickstand.

Acerbis headlight: I used one 30w side for low beam and the other 30w side for high beam.

and tied it all into switched power from the Baja Designs wiring harness using Delphi Weather Pack connectors from NAPA.

I wired it so I could remove all the street legal stuff with the quick Weather Pack connectors and then just plug the headlight in directly to the Baja design harness if I want.

works mint.

Took it for a trail ride from the house up until I ran out of dirt.

This is exactly what I did on my 2011 over winter of 2012, got a plate and ripped the streets since, in Mi.

Polisport headlight.

12,oclock labs integrated rear tailight, (turns built into tail).

Baja Handlebar switch.

Added in a key switch to the Kill switch.

Bike runs prefectly fine. All power comes directly from the Harness, except I spliced into it to draw power to the rear tail and switch for the signals.
