Should I Buy?

Recommended Posts

Found a 02 wr426 brand new for $5000 out the door. It sounds like a good deal to me. I currently ride a 99 xr400 and love this bike. I will keep the xr even if I get the wr. How is the reliabilty of the wr426?

The E-button might of been nice to have, but after I read all these woodruff key issues, it makes me happy I didn't wait...

I have the 450, I've also owned the 400 and 426. The WR450 is the best WR you can get... Don't be fooled by comments like this. I have thousands of hard race miles on my bike, runs perfect like the day I bought it. When I got my new bike I checked the torque on the flywheel and havn't had a single problem.. If you wanted to lap your crank/woodruff key it would probably take you an hour.. Big whoop!!! A small price to pay to own a bike that received my new updates, including the estart...

I also think that five grand is too high. If you can pay that price you can probably fine a WR450 for that too..

good luck.. Dan

You've been lucky. It's happened to my buddy twice. If it happened to you, I garantee you would be pissed, and worried about taking it to far from the truck.

I payed $5200.00 for my used Wr450 with 200 miles on it.Hold out i see them all over the place for less than that!My bike has already gone thru a woodruf key but was replaced and fixxed by montclair yamaha,i think if it has been fixxed right the first time then you should not be concerned. And i use my e-start every time with no problems. ?

I just paid $5877 for a brand new 2004 WR450 OTD ?. Of course the "out the door" part hasn't happen yet, but will as soon as the dealer gets one in stock. Don't want to get accused of spamming, so check on cycletrader.com to find the dealer.

Based upon our original conversation 2 weeks ago, the bike was supposed to be delivered this week. That hasn't happened. The dealer is in Ohio, and based on sightings of WR's, I would assume they will get one in within the next week or so. Based on the price I'm getting, I'm not going to be complaining about waiting a couple more weeks. My local dealers were all quoting me prices that were MSRP or higher ($6400 to $6500 plus prep costs and another $460 in sales tax).
