i have a 74 yz125a.  it came from the factory with no silencer, just a straight stinger.  im thinking about just cutting down a modern silencer, and making a clamp style bracket for the rear hoop of the frame to old the extra weight.  now the big question is what sort of effect do you think it will have to the motor?  i will probably have to jet accordingly.  do you think i will gain or loose power, and if so, from what end of the power band.

i had both a 74 125 and 250 new back then, and they both came stock with silencers.
they were steel and black if i remember, but they did have them.

I imagine it will give you a little more power. It will make it tolerable to your neighbors though. I put a modern silencer on my 76 MX125C that came off a YZ 80 or KTM 80 and I had to cut the body down about an inch to make it work.
