Thinking of upgrading and wondering if the Shiver's are worth the coin over the stock forks?

Anyone have any input?

The shiver are actually very old school from what ive read,  no midvalve

I've done a bit of work with the shiver, I think there old as mog says small ported pistons that haven't many options for a varyed stack, but that said the tms I've done the people have been happy with and say they like the fork. Changing oil viscosity gives good results alone without shim stack changes. 7wt is STD inside the inner chamber. I have done small shim changes and used 3 wt maxima shock oil and found lighter riders like it. They have a large bleed in the centre feed to the clicker.

Also is not a real CC fork IMO.

Well, for sure there are 2 chambers like in other CC forks.
But as marcus said the Shiver got a checked MV. For me one big advantage, besides the isolated damping circus, is the opportunity to ride lower MV floats without cavitation on CC forks.
The shiver fork doenst use this advantage!

Also the cart isnt under pressure with a spring or nitrogren as we know it from kyb/showa/wp etc.

This fork reminded me a bit of a bladder style kyb oc fork...

Maybe I got it wrong. I'm open for your opinion!

But as you said: As long as it feels good, its a good fork!

It is a tc fork  it could easily have a mv built instead of a check plate. But i think if u where to do that u would end up with to much damping u would have to use a piston that flowed more. I think there is about 7 shims in the compression stack and that's it so u would need a very week mv with large float, the reson I never liked the shiver was because of that reson, but people say they like the fork, like I say I have made little changes to the stack different viscosity inner cart and outer oil levels, small preload changes and people say it's a massive change.

It doesn't need n2 or a spring it won't pull cavitation with the check plate, without a mv the bladder is enough. And when u build them block off the ports to the bladder while running the rod through the stroke and they feel even better. I'm not a fan buy any means but I only saying what I believe to be true.

Thanks for all the info guys!  I think I'll stick with the Showa's and just have them revalved when I get them rebuilt.

Sounds very old fashioned,  no need for a pressure as no mid sounds 1994

They are basically using a few shims to control all the low speed and the small ports to provide the high speed,  wished I had rode one,  most people on the tms said they are harsh std,  and removing a few shims( leaving almost none) gives a nicer plusher ride

A shim stack on the tm either 125 or 250f goes something like
21.1
22.1
20.1
18.1
16.1
14.1
12.?
In 2013 the tm r getting kyb forks the 2012 125 has a new shock now looks like a shower but built by tm. I'm gonna test with a lad soon so I will post about the shock. Be a lot better with the kyb forks though.
