Hi.

A while ago I picked up a 1980 CR 250, bike is in a total mess, but complete so for approx $200 I think it was worth a try.

Frame, swing and other parts are currently at sandblasting and will be finished in a powdercoat.

Rims are cracked, but hubs/brakes are fine, so new rims and spokes will be mounted.

Clutchcover is cracked and I will start search for a replacement (ebay seems to be the place) otherwise the engine seems ok and new bearings, piston etc will get it going nice.

Question is about suspension, can anyone point me to how the original shocks are, worth restoring or just dump them for a replacement set?

I have started with the forks and they are not leaking and seems fine, but new seals will be mounted ofcourse.
Lower legs are really not looking great, anyone fixed a set of these? is it even worth a try to get the polished look back or should I just paint them red or flat black?

I am not planning a showroom bike, it will be used both for racing and some woods/mx for fun.

I would also really appreciate info about companys that stock parts for these and ship to Europe.

if you end up going the paint route, why not use an aluminized silver that can be buffed to a high polish look?

That could be an option, but I think I will go with flat black or have them done up in a silver powder coat.

Rims seems to be a bit harder to find than I thought, I want black rims and I am a bit unsure if the newer Honda rims can be laced with my old hubs, anyone know?

The drill to match your hubs. It just takes money.
