for lack of the correct term , the tube that comes out of the valve cover . seems like we have to drain it more often than past models . is this normal ?

We remove the plug in ours and put an inline fuel filter in the line.

yeah my 06 almost never had anything in the tube. I get a little out of my 09 every ride.

Probably has to do with them smashing the motor.
They squished it.

They made it super compact when they redesigned it and the cam may throw more oil right out the vent even tho it has a baffle. Smaller closer valve cover.  Or it could be a figment of your....

thanks ,...now i just have to figure out a way to deflect some of the oil
