My bike at the end of last year had to be pull started twice before it was put away for the winter. Finally getting around to replacing a lot of parts and cleaned the carb out thinking it was the carb and low and behold there was a bolt from the air filter hose clamp bouncing around on top of the valve. After inspecting the bolt it looks like it had been in there for a little while which stands to reason why the bike was not running right… Im going to run a leak test and compression test to get a little more information. So worst case scenario is it possible for this to have damaged the valve? Or will it just need to be readjusted as when I try to kick it over it shoots a flame out the exhaust so it has some compression, but if the valve is damaged how does one go about replacing the valve and is there a valve kit or other parts that I would need to complete this? Any advice from someone who has replaced the valves would be greatly appreciated! Trying to get this riding season going and still stuck in the garage! :banghead:

A bolt on top of the valve can't be good. Run the leak down test and see what the results are and go from there. Chances are, you're going to need a new valve and the seat recut. Do the test 1st.

So if i have to replace the valve what should be replaced along with it since i am in there? I have the timing chain, but is there a kit in which i can get everything that is needed to replace?

I would change the springs too. And like stated above your gonna need new valve(s) and your going to need to get the valve seats re-cut.
