Ok, so I think its time to replace the piston and rings since I have a feeling the motor has never been opened. I have an 06 that i have been riding for over a year and I just checked the valves and they were good except I had to adjust the decomp clearence. I think the PO checked the valves. I ride mostly trails and a little track time.

Now my question:

What piston kit should I get? I want to run pump gas. Also when I have it apart is there any other parts I should replace? I want to ensure I have all the parts and gaskets when I start the project.

Cp or J&E are top notch
Weisco is okay.
There's a guy on here venom performance.  He has pistons made by cp and he runs tight squish good stuff.   If you read a post in here called high compression/you don't know
Then decide.

Also cosworth pistons are pretty but $$$$

I'm running a JE 12.5:1 piston in my 05 and it is a great piston.

I am installing a CP 13.5:1 in my '02 right now and will be running pump 91 octane. Wasn't sure if I should go the high on the compression but after reading threads here for hours and hours and hearing from very experienced tech's I am comfortable and confident with the decision to run 13.5:1. The '02 has a longer duration cam then the newer CRF's so you may need to consider your cam and what works best with it. See what others say and check out the thread's about compression.
