I checked my air filter this weekend because I have been fighting a rich condition at mid throttle. I have done a lot of work on the carb so I thought I would look elsewhere. When I removed the thick foam filter I found that instead of a perforated steel frame there is a fine multi layered mesh screen that the round foam slips over the top of. I removed the oil from the foam and it seemed to run a little better. I am wondering if the foam looses it's ability to pass air with time and if I should try to find a thinner foam filter.
Thanks

I had a Uni air filter that went over the same type of mesh and to be honest it's gone and replaced with a K&N. My current project is getting a K&N here shortly too. Though, sounds like you'll be back tuning that carb whatever route you take

More than likely you have worn out jet needle ,and needle jet . Other wise known as the slide needle and the emulsion tube . The brass eventually wears out from use, causing a rich condition .

Well I have played with the jet needle using solder and fractional drill bits which helped a ton as it was definitely worn. I have found replacements hard to come by. The bike runs good but is not spot on.
