hey guys, it was recently my 16th and i got around 700 in cash !

what do you guys think i should buy? gear, parts, tools, bling ???

Buy the necessities, tires, gas, maintenence items.  Save the rest for later maintence items and when you move out of your parents house.

save at least half of your money, to blow 700 on dirtbike or car parts or similar would be such a waste.   Spend half, thats $350..  You could get some fresh tires and maintenance necessities and still have plenty of money left over to get some new gear.  Look for closeout gear, you can get last years stuff for 50 to 65% off or even MORE!

i got 700 from my friends and relatives, not from my parents. i got my new bike from my parents which im paying them back for anyway.
and yea i wasnt planning on spending it all on bikes, i need nw clothes and stuff too.

As soon as you buy bike parts the price halves, the best thing you could buy is tools. Sockets, wrenches and such tools will last you a long time and won't be something that you will ever get rid of.

Use some of the money to get the suspension set up properly. Happy belated Birthday.

If you still owe your parents for the bike, give them the $700, be responsible.

How about by some tools and maintenance stuff and then say "Thanks Mom and Dad for all that you have done for me". "I would like to give you half of my Birthday money in repayment towards my bike". Chances are they would want you to go blow it on good stuff but man the gesture would go along ways. Heck if they really need it and do take it then you know they went out on a limb for this bike.

At least it doesn't sound like he is going to blow it on what I would have-beer and chasing skirts.

His parents may not accept the B'day gift money and want him to use it for something fun (I know mine would of). But the pride they'd get from knowing their kid wants to be responsible would be priceless.
My dad reminds me from time to time of the time I gave him a dime (when I was perhaps seven years old) to use for the PATH train (He had no change that morning). He never used that dime but saved it in an envelope in his keepsakes drawer.

Guys guys guys, its $700 not $7000. Do what you want with it, why you would make a thread about it blows my mind. Surely you can think on your own what you need/want?

Or do you have everything you want already?

If I was 16 and had $700 too blow, I would go too a MX training camp/school for the weekend.

Ok, all these other guys on here are being way too sensible... heck with that.

Buy some bling; colored engine plugs, anodized shift lever, axle blocks, reservoir caps, rimlocks...ect.

Then buy some bitchin levers, new 2013 gear (not a good helmet or boots though...way too expensive).

Or just buy an aftermarket exhaust system, I am sure you could find one for $700 (you could also take your $700 and ask your parents for another $300 and get a Full Ti setup...that would be sweet and probably get you laid!

Personally I would buy a case of oil, stainless steel oil filter, one front tire, 2 back tires, a sprocket/chain combo set, hand grips, and a $100 gas card.  What ever is left save.

Those are pretty much all the wear parts you will need for a summer of riding unless you break something.

Go to the casino and bet it all on red.

Yeah, tires, unbreakable levers, maybe a fresh set of plastics if yours are scuffed, bars, graphics, neckbraces are a good idea.
