Everybody I know that had a 2007 CRF450 said they were junk and much better in 2009 and up. They sold the 07's almost immediatly after getting them. Just what I have heard....

maybe i'd buy an '11 model if the price was right. i've seen them for less than 6000, used low hours.

I heard that lots of people want the 07 as it has no steering damper, and no detuned 1-3rd gears.....I love mine....and I don't seee why you would detune it 1st or 2nd......it gets faster as it gets in the higher gearing....they are torque monsters....but I have never rode another one to compare it too, and I came from a two stroke.......So it revs slow to me!

The 09 is the latest model id buy until they change it up.. But having a new bike is great because you know wat ur working with wen i buy a used bike i always expect to spend 1,000-1,500 to get it into new condition i dont take risks so i do the motor... Dont have the $ to be in the hospital from a blown crank b4 a triple

With the 08 bike, all they do is back the timing off a little so you dont blow the rear tire away constantly. If you wanted to disable the censor its pretty easy. At that point you'd have full advance all the time. With the smaller exhaust valves they pull like a friggin tractor off the bottom and spin the tire pretty easily. It just makes it easier to ride aggressively. If you dont want the steering damper, its a two bolt delete.

Hmmm true.  But I don't think those are worth upgrading to me....no problems with my 07....but I am curious about the steering dampers, do they help? Seems like they would be worthless to me, but I have never riddden a bike with one.

For mx on a technical track, the 08 ignition is a big advantage over the 07. The steering damper isn't.

I say go with an '12. They did fix a few of the issues they were having with the '10 and 11's.

I see what you are saying, and i agree, but I trail ride mostly and hit the track just for a change of pace every now and then, so I love mine.  Will keep in mind though.

Unless youve got 400 bucks burning a hole in your pocket, dont ever ride a bike with a Scotts Steering damper on it. You'll be addicted in 5 mins if you ride desert or dunes.

That sounds really inviting. How is it on a mx track?
