Because RD was the only threat this year? I dont think RD should have an * by any of his championships. No rider should, but you cant exactly compare those two seasons. They share nothing in common. Your team failing to keep your bike in one piece for an entire moto does not meet the same criteria as your team not bringing your bike to the line because you are injured. RV failed to qualify for a main as well and still won it rem.

Exactly!  Either all champs get the asterisk or no one gets one.  Period the end.

Whoa! I didn't realize having a differing opinion of Villopoto would cause such a stir. You'd think I had mentioned Stewart or something... As I said, I understand how it could become "just a job" and everyone who replied to my post makes a very valid argument. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and my opinion of RV isn't the same as most people. I'm a die-hard Kawasaki rider but I will give my money for another rider's products who doesn't look like he could care less at the starting gate. And to the guy who called me "Bro"...get your head out of your ass, CHIEF.

Looks like he could care less but wins everything he has entered for how long? I call that being composed, and just maybe it is possible for a pro to be very serious about what he does. Doesnt make much sense to me. I want produces that post results, not the ones the guy that hasnt won a thing in his career is promoting because he is smiling all the time. But as you said... everyones entitled to their own opinion, some are just better than others. :banghead:

Ha ha very good point sir. But to me riding is avout having fun. I want to cheer dor a guy who is out there every race having the time of his life. As I said, RV is THE racer to beat at the moment. (Not counting his injury.) I even think his riding style is awesome. Watching the guy ride is like watching an artist paint his masterpiece. I'm just not his biggest fan.

I know I know, I was just giving you a hard time since everyone else was. You dont belong in the pro forum unless you disagree with everything everyone else says lol

I wish this guy was still racing, whoever he is. It's obviously turning into a crash, but could you imagine pulling off a whip like that! I'd be his biggest fan.

I know this has nothing to do with Villopoto. Just thought I would change up the pace. A lot of arguing goin on here. My thoughts on Villopoto is this, take it easy until you are fully recovered. Don't try and rush it to much. Enjoy the time you have off and spend time with your wife and do some things that you don't have time to do while racing.

I would have a hard time hopping off the KX. He seems to be the type to worry more about results than the money. RV has a chance to get on one hell of a roll, granted he heals up properly and comes back where he left off. But Im not Pro so what do I know?

I agree. I don't know what these factory teams specifically look for. But from what I have seen they don't have a problem with letting go top meat. So we will see what happens. Maybe they cost to much?

Contract time- I could imagine Kawi being insane not to continue the villopodium relationship.  Meanwhile, what a bummer, -huge- bummer all this knee stuff.  Ryan get well soon, GL man.

Ready for Reedy to be back too! He's not getting any younger! Also seems to be in his prime and as comfortable as ever right now. That guy seems to be more confident and pushing harder than ever, even when he was successful on the Suzuki.

Good one buddy!

How can you pretend to know what's going on Villopoto's head, and that he's not having fun?  Maybe it's just me, but seems like someone else has their head where the sun don't shine; you come into this thread saying you don't have any respect for the guy because you THINK you know what he's all about.  You think every pro rider is going to show up to every race and have the time of their life?  Like it was said earlier, they're only human; they have bad days, and they are doing their JOB.

I love riding more than anything else, but I still have days where I'm not feeling it and load the truck up early.

I just can't get over how 5 different manufactures are producing bikes with the same results:  Surgery for those that ride them.  Where is the AMA in all this?

Towelie, you think we'd see less injury if they were slower?

I think at least part of it is how much these top guys are pushing each other, but what would it look like if they were all on 125s?

:banghead:

Somehow, someway...  they need to reduce the impact of injuries on the outcome of the series.

I don't know what they can or should do...   but all 5 of the top guys being out with injuries  (1 with a mental affliction) isn't good for business.

seems the only time we don't have runaway injuries is when we have a runaway winner. Nature of the beast. Regulation just gives somebody an advantage....let 'em race.

I was actually being sarcastic and making a joke towards the "its the bike" types.  But, there is no denying the 450 is a hell of a machine that allows these guys to walk the line between stupid fast and down right dangerous.  I think it would be boring to watch them all on 125s.  Owning a 450 and only being able to point and shoot, you gotta respect these dudes that can ride those things on the edge

I agree. When I'm hot and exhausted and raw and battered I'm the first one to call it a day. But I'm in nowhere near the shape Villopoto is in. I also understand that every pro rider is going to feel burnt out at some point. It's just the way he said it in his interview with TWMX in particular that rubbed me the wrong way. I can see how and why a lot of people would be big fans of Little Red Riding Good, but I am not one of them. Everybody has their preferred riders for some reason or another. Hell I'd even bet me and you share a favorite in the pro scene somewhere. But I can't bring myself to cheer for RV.
