Sort of in a dilima.  I hear both sides, some ppl say these don't work, not proven, makes it worse.  Some say it saved there lives.  I'm leaning on getting one, but the price differences are incredibly high.

Ex:  Leatt adventure, good features but with minimal setup.
Leatt Club, same as the adventure but with more setup features, +100$
Leatt Pro, just expensive, im sure its great, out of my price range though.

Alpine seems to be mounting they price too, some company's have them for as little as 100 bucks.  I know they're are some difference, however, is it a personal thing or some are actually better?

I'm not going to argue if its needed or not, there is plenty places for those forums, im looking for opinions on braces that ppl have already tried and hated or liked and why?

Thanks.

Both are very high quality braces. I have a Leatt Club now but its a little on the small side but want to keep it incase I lose some weight again some day. Just bought a Astars CF yesterday, so Ill be able to tell you how it stacks up in the next few days when it arrives. I really liked the adjustability and comfort of the Leatt. If the Astars is anywhere close I wouldnt hesitate to pick either up.

I have the Evs rc evolution and it is extremely bulky and it won't work with most chest protectors comfortably. I did just get 40percent off leatt on hookit.com. With that discount its possible to get a leatt for only 150 bucks. They will sponsor anyone with at least one race. I would try doing that.

ah yes the EVS evolutions, I've those everywheres for a good price, my buddy just bought one, well ordered one, not arrived yet.  I was kinda skeptical about them.  I know myself, i won't like it if its too bulky.

I know some people like i and I see how it would help in a crash but it gets uncomfortable as the day goes on. I would Also look at the Evs r4. It looks way more compact and it's only 115

What about an Atlas?

I have never worn a brace, never tried any of the other ones or anything (I race in the bush, not the track). My shop just brought the Atlas in, I'm one of the few that actually has one to date and from my limited experience, I really like the product.

I cant stand my leatte, u have no idea how much you move your head around while riding until you wear one. I find its almost disorienting, if you're leaned over in a corner usually u would keep your head upright, cant with a brace on it follows your shoulders so youre constantly rocking your head left and right. Try one before u buy one

I felt that exact same way at first but after a few rides with it, I forgot I even had it on once I got used to it a little more and got it adjusted correctly. I dont find it to be all that restricting at all. I dont wear mine much anymore but only because its a little on the small side. Not to debate or undermind you but are you 100% sure it was adjusted correctly?

yeah its the club with all the adjustments, fits good, i even went as far as taking the rubber trim off the bottom of my helmet to get a bit more movement, i have slightly bigger shoulders idk maybe i just have a short neck but for me it is not working out, i still throw it on for the first few laps til i get the triples dialed in

When I first got my Leatt Club (both shelves adjusted all the way down) I thought it was a bit restrictive, especially with a chest protector and a camelbak.  I stopped wearing it (and the CP) for trail rides, but I still wear it for races, and I always wear it on the MX track, usually without the CP, though.  Now, I am completely un-phased by the Leatt when I ride MX.

Got ya... I have a buddy who says the same thing. Thats kind of the reason I asked. He has big shoulders and a short neck as well so that is probably your issue as well

I have tried one out, seems to be good, although, I think the true test will be with my gear, aka the helmet.  Seems like most of you didn't like it at first but gotten used to it.  For those who gotten used to it, which one was it.  I'm looking at the Leatt club or adventure.  Obviously the're is some advantage with the club, whoever is it worth the 100 big ones.  I will also look at the evolution, just to see but they are harder to find.

I love my Leatt Club once I got used to it, well worth the couple extra $$ IMO. Fit and finish was perfect, and adjustability was about perfect as well. It fit nicely allowed pretty much full movement of my head once I figured it out completely. Havnt had a head impact since Ive had it so I wont get into that debate and Im sure thats not where you want this discussion to go anyways. To me the most important part of getting it to fit right is the proper use of the straps. The brace wont do its job or fit correctly if its just flopping around up there like I see so many times at the track.

Maybe one day I will fit into it again! For now though the Astars should get the job done. I have quite a few buddies that say they like it better than the Leatt but Im too big to try any of them out. Hoping mine will be here tomm or Sat. so I can try it out this weekend. Ill give a full report and comparison if you dont purchase one before Sat or Sunday.

I have a Leatt, at first it was different riding with something sitting around your neck, but after a while you get used to it and you feel like its never even their, It does not effect my riding what so ever after i got used to it. I cant say whether or not it works, but it definitely boosts my confidence whenever I am wearing one.

Ever heard of the EVS R4? Much cheaper than the rest, and i think its just as good! Much better then that vending machine sized rc evolution......on the track i cant tell the R4 is on......

EVS R4, lots of good reviews.  I wonder if they do the same job.  They seem so small.  Like you said, the only real way of testing it... is taking a dive head first, I don't want to be the one testing that.
