I've busted mine in two twice now. Had surgery 2/3/12, the surgery doesnt hurt too bad unless your a puss, the hard part is not doing the things you want for 6months. I'm cleared to ride fri 8/3/12 and I've already got the time off work. If rv uses his own tendon he can be back in less than six months.

My guess is you used an allograft? It has it's benefits but you can recover faster using your own tendon ie patella

The primary reason a professional athlete would be back quicker than a weekend warrior is due to the level of post surgical care they might get...not because they are fast healers. Assuming both patients were similarly healthy, of similar age, similar problem/repair and such.
If you get a good enough doc, you too can get the same level of care as a pro but whether your insurance will pay for the same level of post-surgical treatments as can be available to a pro can impact how fast you heal. Since the end result will likely be the same with alot of treatment or just some treatment (there are exceptions of course) the insurance company isn't anxious to try to speed recovery if it costs them more in treatments.

One of my orthopedic docs tore a ligament in his knee and had the luxury of selecting the cadaver from which he received the donation. He (being 40ish) selected a ligament from a much younger, very fit, individual.
That luxury is not available to most.

I had pain but I didn't think it was that bad either time, didn't even take a pain pill. Strange the difference, I used an allograft so no harvest of my own, maybe that's the difference.

PS: I wonder if the pros are on TT, have different names and or read what everyone (fans) is saying about them... Especially JS7, he's gotta hate what all the fans are saying about him on here haha

Of course that made the difference. Do you understand what is done when they do a patellar tendon graft? Your comment about being a puss is very unintelligent, typical though.

You and meyer say the same thing when you have nothing to come back with it seems. I started to say intelligent but that would be the majority of your posts.
