Well I'm going to be getting this beauty transferred to my name in the next week or two. It's a comet trailer from the '70's and used to be one rail.

It looks to be a bit on the rusty side. :banghead:

What should I do as far as painting/prepping? Just attack it with a wirebush and paint it with some rustoleum, or are their better options.
It looks like the tongue portion was ran over at one point, I might try to heat it up and bend it back or is that just going to make it weaker.

Once I get some new tires, lights, and paint. I'll have a pretty nice trailer to tow with my car. One question about towing... Is it going to tow poorly with just one bike on the one side? I'm contemplating throwing a third rail on the center or just building a little box thing to put my gas can and oils in.

Whatever I do I'll post pictures of it.

Add an additionan rail in the middle.  You will be much happier and it will be safer.  Also, your tie downs will be more secure and can use less pressure with them at a greater angle.

I'd put bigger tires on it, especially if you put a 3rd rail on it... Small tires with decent load at high speeds scare me.

Use 395A paint, I use this paint for frames on trailers , cars and trucks. Don't add paint thinner, you can get it from body supply stores.
