Well after watching 1:16 of your video, I don't feel quite as embarrassed to show my failed attempt at "front flipping" the geek slide in january 2010 (gonna have to turn your heads to the left for this one) :

I had been meaning to go back and do it clean to show my buddies that I could... I guess Ill just have to live with it now!

Hell I dualsported solo out there on Sunday and took some pics of the slide and I started in Santa Clarita.  I'd post a link to the pics but that's a ban level offence over here.  I don't think it was really changed all that much.  Looks like just the little lip at the top was chipped away.

I didn't try to ride up it.  Yes, I'm chicken.

This thread is good , reminds me of the good old days here in Bakersfield about 12 years ago at Heart Park before they closed it too off-roaders......... There had allways been the shark tooth diggers with there jack hammers up there and they in the past had allways seem to not chisel the hill  were we road until one day they they ran a huge trench across one of sweetest series of climbs out there....... I spotted the offenders and was riding a KX500 with 14-42 desert gears and immediately I knew what had to be done..... I rode up the climb to where they were the bastards and stuck my bike into the trench with them and killed it... I asked,"what are you fellas doing ?". They said they were " digging for fossils" . I said ," Your going to piss the wrong mutherfocker off ! You guys just ruined a main attraction !! "........ So this is what I did .... Started bike, nosed up in first gear and edged front wheel down hill making certain they were in the line off fire of my AT739, I clicked up to second knowing how much wheel spin was getting ready to take place, I turned around and raised my middle finger and cleared out the expansion chamber on there punk asses. All I tried to do was dig up shark teeth for them.. At the bottom they had there truck with air compressor to power there jack hammer..... I backed up to it's front bumper and gave it a kiss too...... Two points ; first , when you modify a trail , you can injure the unsuspecting making yourself to blame and be sued .... Second : when you come across a tuff trail and you don't have the skills developed or never will do not take a short cut and go back the way you came in, do not chisel trail to suit your needs or this might happen to you.

RIP KX500

I was a local fuel hauler out of Bako heading up to bishop and there was this peculiar trail that would allways catch my eye just off the 14 about 8 miles south of jawbone...... So one day my best friend and I loaded up our bike to go do some exploring ........ My bike had no skid plate , no hd tubes , no aluminum hand guards and geared to the moon..... And so we took off and climbed up the mountain and down the mountain to another mountain and seen things we could only dream and we road trails that were so knarly we never wanted to go back threw them....... I was getting cocky by this time and climbed a mountain while my friend filmed me........he couldn't make it on his DRZ 400 so we pressed on deeper into uncharted territory and seen traile only moto gods were capable of doing....... It was around this time I fell and busted my clutch lever off and back then the guy who invented the rekluse was still in college riding his moms outo clutch LT300 with his plywood top on the rear rack for his wheenie dog.....  So I busted my clutch lever and now with a bike that idled at 20mph I had to bomb rock and switch backs and pretty soon I realized my front tire was flat....... My budy was having a hard time keeping up with me and fell a bunch and when I had a chance to yell to him from one mountain to the next I encouraged him to go back the way we came...... I decided to take a shortcut to a sand wash that opened up to jawbone canyon road........ Bad mistake !

But years later I returned with better skills to the area and is one of my favorite areas to ride ! Still very challenging and dangerous ! Going to do the special loop this Sunday ! Some like it and some think there going to die ! 36 mile loop, 2 hrs for me but have seen it take 10 hrs and road many bikes that day !

If any of you ride the El Paso's and are familiar with a rock step up and dubbed "the geek slide" you may be disappointed to find out that a well-known dual sport promoter has taken it upon himself to modify the step up in order to make it more accessible for some of his organized dual sport rides.

Simple, don't support any of his rides. I have only ever been on one of his rides, don't intend to go on another one again, especially not now.

There are plenty of really good DS rides and promoters out there to spend the $'s on other than Countdown.

Funny that he's been all over TT since this thread has gone up, but unless I missed it, he hasn't come on here to explain himself......

I think it's all urban myth, or desert myth actually.
Not sure why he posted the pics in the first place, attention ho? They do have that political thang over there w/ kco.
I wanted to be mad at him but I think he's just a tool. Made for good entertainment.
We had rode up it the day before his pics were posted and it looked the same as last year, which was eroded or somehow "softened" compared to the year before that.....
If you read the ahats original post, he talks about battery packs...., really think he carried battery packs out there?
Back to your regularly scheduled program.
