I hesitated posting this here because quite frankly this forum has turned into a bit of a shit hole lately.

If any of you ride the El Paso's and are familiar with a rock step up and dubbed "the geek slide" you may be disappointed to find out that a well-known dual sport promoter has taken it upon himself to modify the step up in order to make it more accessible for some of his organized dual sport rides.

This thread and pictures (in his own words) can be found here:

http://www.district3...ead.php?t=52174

By chance I had the opportunity to ride the geek slide for the first time this weekend. I wasn't sure what all the hype was about, so imagine my surprise when I saw Jerry's thread detailing his handiwork. I guess I'll never know what all the hype was about since one man has taken it upon himself to dumb our trail down for his own selfish purposes.

Easy dude, this has nothing to do with DS vs. off road, this is about one dude gone rogue and removing a legitimate step-up so he can run a paid tour through the area.

It's bullshit no matter what you ride!

nobody on a off road bike would do this... they'd hit it

Good thing we went up it (again) before it was dumbed down.

It's not a tree.  It won't grow back.  No one person has a right to demo a riding obstacle to meet his or her riding deficiencies.

Now that I know it is COUNTDOWN that did this I understand completely. He may be passionate about riding... and he may have a million hours in on volunteering... but he had NO RIGHT ! His thinking has ALWAYS scared me. Reading what he posts on TT the past many years makes him sound more logic-challenged than any woman I have ever met ! I am not surprised to find out it was him !

Waiting for my D37 login as well. So I can say the same to Mr. Countdown directly.

If you don't think the thread has merit don't read it...  and don't be a troll..  Others do care.

Just stupid, and a place he would never have gone up.  They called it the GEEK SLIDE, because only the geeks would try it down hill.....and most of the time with the rear wheel locked up....you'd never see them trying to go up it.  Wished I would have seen this turd doing this.

He said it right on the first post - something along the lines of "you'll get to ride it on the Next Hi Desert 250" or some such BS (which is one of his DS rides)...

Un-&%$#@!ing-believable

The rock outcrop to the right of the slide is exactly the same as Jerry's own picture. Unmistakeable:
