Ya know what?  That's pretty sweet.  There's an angle that RC could be taking away from other amaeturs, yet all the same, every race is about who shows up- you can't cry about this.  After seeing this video c/o vital, after, I thought-  ya know what?  What's every Racer, Runner, Swimmer, Wrestler, etc, say?  Want to win?  Run, Race, Wrestle, Swim against someone better than you, -always-;  this is the only way -you- get better.  Looks like to me, any one of those amateurs given the chance to be w/RC on the track are getting the best of all worlds they never thought to ask for.

For the RC angle and Big Rick?  LOL, LOLOLOLOLOL.....  that was awesome, right on Big Rick!  Yet, check out RC....  It's in the blood, a year, two years, a decade, half a decade?  It's in the blood....

Right On!  Go RC!  Go MC!

It's just kinda weird seeing RC being beat by amateurs...not used to seeing that! Even though he is a bit chunky now...

Actually those guys are not really ameture's, they are local pros, they usually race for money at their local tracks.
Our local pros don't race against the intermediate  riders which just run for trophies. Sure they are not top tier riders, but many local pros will sign up at AMA sx events and some make the night show.
It would be awesome for local pros to race with him..I would bet that the next qualifier he shows up to, chances are he will have the throttle tube tight and he is probably getting in a little bit better shape.

ncc-  thnx for the post.  saw that it was the pro class, forgot, and didn't know how the local/regional scene was divided up.

i really like and respect RC. with that said i think it's stupid, move on with life find other things to do. if you want to race then try something new; gncc, worx, endurocross, trials, roadrace, shiftercarts, barstools, whatever. you're never going to re-spark the old career or have the level of satisfaction from a lower level of competition, in the same discipline, that you once enjoyed.

move on already. my .02

If you don't mind me asking. Why do you ride? You may never be a national or Supercross winner so why bother?

I'm sure he's doing it because he loves the sport so much and that's what he's good at doing.

Like i would consider myself a Pretty good bowler. But that in no way gets me going as going through 100 foot in the air.

It's for the love of the sport and I hope he kicks some ass.

Do you race MX? Have you? I have since 1978, and still do, RC has the bug, it is in his blood, kind of silly for you to tell anyone and any age that they should hang it up, move on?
He is not trying to restart his career, did you not watch the videos, understand the explanations? RC is not doing it for sponsors, or fans, or even money, He is racing because he just loves the sport, the rush and the ride!

Its probably because he enjoys to race, PERIOD. If you browse the net you can find videos of just about every ex pro thats retired running "pro" races on the amateur level. They get the thrill without any of the pressure, no results being demanded, no pay check that needs to be earned, no sponsors to represent, no fans to impress, dont have to train 12 hours a day 7 days a week. It has nothing to do with resparking a career, its about the thrill and love of the sport called MX. Some even say that they get more satisfaction racing on the "local/ amateur" level than they ever did when they were racing professionally because there is no pressure and its all about having fun.

Just my .02

Thats pretty awesome.  Good to see him enjoying what he loves without all the pressure he must have felt every time he threw his leg over the bike while growing up.  Now he gets to take his family with him, enjoy the experience,  and introduce his kids to the lifestyle that he grew up in.  Plus he gets to do it with the best equipment, support and the nicest rig in the pits.  Looks like big Rick is enjoying it too.

No way, I think you're the ONLY bowler I've seen that does motocross too! lol. Anyway, I kinda' figured RC wouldn't stay away from motocross. It is rather weird seeing him race those guys though. Jeremy Martin is from Millville, MN here, and is Alex Martin's little brother, so yeah they're fast.

Hey... I resent that remark. :banghead: Im no professional bowler but Ive done pretty good for myself on a statewide level since I picked it back up after graduation from high school as a hobby to pass the time on weekends while in college. Hadnt bowled since I was in elementary school.

Anyways back on topic... your 100% correct. MX is one of the few full contact sport that a retired pro that will never have the speed to be on top of the world can go back to his youth and do it for the pure fun of it again. No more 110% commitment, and everything that goes along with it. At times Im almost glad Im not payed to do it, its a double edged sword... yes your getting paid to do what we all love, but your no longer doing it for fun and I think that pressure gets to alot of young racers.

i give RC a lot of props for doing this. He is the GOAT, just think how cool it must be for people to beat him, pass him, or battle head to head with him. He does it because he loves it, and i think he also shows he has no ego when it comes to him being the GOAT. Do you think JS would do this?

If he doesn't have the same level of satisfaction, rest assured, he'll move on.  If he's still enjoying it, let the man race.  The guy's already among the greatest riders ever to throw a leg over a dirt bike.  Maybe he just wants to be able to enjoy riding and racing without having to worry about the career aspect, and if that's the case, how can you blame him?  I know I wouldn't get the same amount of enjoyment out of GNCC, endurocross, trials, etc. that I get out of motocross.

I was pretty big on bowling a couple years ago... used to bowl 3 nights a week, and back when I was serious about it, I was averaging 170-ish, but I never could get better than that, so I lost a lot of interest.  I ended up going from bowling 3 nights a week and hitting up every tournament I could find a team to go with 2 years ago to only bowling 4 or 5 times this year.  I really got burnt out on it.

Haha, yeah I bowled in high school. I just have a hard time finding buddies that bowl or ride, let alone both! I'll get back into it once I start making a healthy income.

How many of you have Qualified and raced at Lorretta's??  How many of you have even BEEN there?

Lorretta's is absolutely GREAT fun.  He has much history there.  Even when he was a top Pro, he'd show up for a few days at Loretta's just to kick back, party a bit, and be at the scene.  He loves Lorretta's.

I'm not surprised one bit.  Good for him, he should do whatever makes him happy regardless of what a bunch of forum pukes like us think.

Been there.  Love it. Even rode the track twice...of course that was 2 laps in the morning race at the GNCC so that's not really the same deal.  Nonetheless, I love Loretta's.  Wish you could camp as a spectator for the nationals.  Id make a week out of that too.
