Lol yep just saw that.  just wondering wich one is better  Tusk or Baja? i do like the small leds on the tusks though, but there only connected by sticky glue, not sure how long they would last riding enduro?

The glue seems like good stuff. Mine have only been on for a few rides but they have been hard rides. A small tree tried to rip one off today but it's none the worse for it.
They've already lasted longer than the mini stalks I had previously.

The Baja kit is probably better stuff and safer for the street. But it's ugly and costs way more.

I don't run DOT tires anymore but if I did I would think Pirelli scorpions pro AT are the most dirt worthy.
People seem to like Dunlop D606's for actual aggressive dual sporting. Dual sporting is all about compromise...tires most of all. Wear/grip.

I don't know anything about the Tusk kits, but the BD kit on my MXC is as good as any factory dual sport setup I have run. The switchgear is all very good, the mirrors are good and everything looks factory. Which was a big deal to me since we have to have a pretty thorough title inspection done in MD to get a plate. The reason a BD kit is expensive is that it is is very close to what you would get from Yamaha if they ever come to their senses and do a real offroad based dual sport.

I've heard nothing but good things about the TUSK kit, I ordered myself one.. and for half the price of a Baha Kit or the DST kit, you can't go wrong. I've heard of guys putting hundreds of miles on their bikes with the TUSK kit with lots of mudding and jumping and still seems to be decent.

Mines coming in the mail this Thursday :banghead:

Didn't notice anyone commenting on their experience in getting Tusk kit thru process of licensing bike---how 'bout it, guys? Such ability would vary by state, etc., I guess.  Kalifohnya licensing of either kit is now pretty much impossible.  Original poster wrote that this was important to him, correct?

Over the years I've used DOT Pirelli MT-21s for my DS bikes; about 90 to 95% off road, tho.

The laws do very significantly from state to state. Here in Wa they just passed a law, however we dont need DOT lights but do need Blinkers and a rear flap down half way to the rear axle?? Doesn't make much sense to me  , but hey at least we can plate a YZ...Ive always had good luck with a 606 and MT21
Here is a nicely setup WR sent from a customer.Using our Rally light with a High/low

You are probably aware that the Law in WA state changed a few times as it was first introduced. I have to admit that we really didn't understand or want to take chances early in the process.Jeez the state didn't even know what they where doing... No double speak, here just covering our butts.
Many states do require DOT lights.   Wa does not..
Do you realize that the light I posted on the WR is a DOT light with HIgh and Low??
You must have added the high/low.  If someone passed your bike without a high/low then they didn't pay much attention to the regs..

oh ok. the stock WR light has HI/Lo you just have to put a switch to the HI wire in the harnesswhich is for euro spec bikes.

I live in Ontario, Canada.. the rules are similar to other places, we need the lights mirror horn DOT tires and a plate on the back.. I am in the midst of setting my 250x up for DS,
Pirelli MT-21 on the front and a Kenda trackmaster II on the back. quite knobby for the road but still work okay, and great in the dirt!
