Just after some advice please, I have just bought a Keihin Airstryker form a 99 CR250, Its a quad vent with TPS.

Its to go on my CR250 2002 in place of the TMX. From what I have read on here it sounds like its the best one for my bike? I take it I just leave the TPS disconnected and I wont have any problems as the 2002 doesn't have it.

The new carb would be stock  is there anything that would need to be done to it to make it better?

Would I need to change the boot to make it fit maybe from a 2001?

JD Jet Kit is it needed and will the stock 02 throttle cable be ok?

Thanks in advance.

The '99 Airstriker apparently comes with a #5.5 slide while the '00 CR model I have came with a #7 slide.
The #7 slide is a little better, but you'll have to see how the '99 works for you first.

The '01 boot is for a Mikuni, 85mm long, and the '99/'00 Keihin is 91mm long.
So the '00 boot is the better one for your situation, since it is set up for the proper length carb.
You can use your stock boot, but I imagine it is going to be quite a snug fit.

You can leave the TPS unplugged and nothing will come of it.
All the sensor does is send a signal to a computer and then that computer decides to advance or retard timing, or open/close power valve.
If the computer is not looking for that signal, it isn't going to miss it, and the TPS does not affect the operation of the carb.

The purpose of the JD Jetting kit is to get his needles. The jets in the kit are the same as you pick up at the dealer.
And the kit doesn't come with every size jet you may need. I had to buy seperately.
I found his needles made my throttle response a little crisper than the stock needle.
Now, coming from the TMX, using the stock needle will be just dandy.

I'm not certain because I've never done it to an '02, but I believe the stock cable is a direct fit.

There is a small problem here in that while the stock 99' CR 250 comes with a PWK airstriker, it does not have a TPS! So we need to figure out what carb you bought? Can you post a picture of it?

As far as I know....
All the PWK's that have a TPS measure 75mm from the inlet to the outlet, and they all have a top that is retained by 2 screws. These are refered to as the short body PWK's.

All the PWK's that have a twist on top have an inlet to outlet measurement of 91mm's, these are refered to as the long body or twist top or screw top PWK's. Some of these twist top PWK's have an electrical connection but that connection is for a power jet not a TPS.

The 97 and 98 CR 250 came with a Keihin PJ (not a PWK) which has an electrical connection for a power jet. Like the longer PWK's the PJ also has a twist on top. However the PJ carbs do not have an idle adjustment screw (slide stop), they only have an air screw and use an adjustable choke for idle.

Good catch. I overlooked him saying his '99 Airstriker had TPS.

This is the carb that I have ordered. What do you reckon to the cable and year? Now I've looked at it from what you have mentioned it looks like a 1998 not a 1999, so will have to send it back.

Thanks for the input so far.

Yeah, that looks like the '97-'98 CR250 Power Jet Keihin. The Airstrikers will have two "shark fins" along the inside bottom curve of the inlet nozzle. Hard to explain in words but google pictures and you will see the inlet "fins" I am talking about.
