Hey guys,

I was thinking of building my own small fmx ramp to help me learn good bike control in the air and in the long run, maybe a small whip or so.

A FMX ramp would be easier to make, and less maintenance than a dirt jump, I have a track with some very small jumps, but getting dirt is hard around here and I think it would be good to have a FMX set up next to the track so I can do some of both.

But is it harder to learn bike control and whipping on a ramp jump, or on a dirt jump?

Also if I was to make a ramp, does it need to be so steep or could I even it out a bit, since my only real want is bike control, not to do back flips or anything.

Thanks for your opinions

First of all how this fits into the woods riding technique I have no clue this should be over on mx. But anyways if u make this fmx ramp, just don't. It will be too much expense, just get a bunch of buddies and make a dirt jump the reason I say thisis because I have used thin bendable plywood on my dirt jumps to keep them from rutting up and being destroyed for the past three years, that's right, no maintenance for three years, yes. As long as u make sure the board does not slide down the jump, once that happens then the top gets blown out. It does slide down every couple times so ull need to pull it up, but just throw dirt on the wood and ull have a little bit of traction and ull be good. Trust me it works as long as u get the thin stuff that takes the shape of the face of the jump, after it's nice and packed but blocks on the wood overnight to help it take it's form. And that's it, u may have to rebuild the top every so often, but it's usually less then a wheel barrow full. :banghead: good luck, and btw it does work I learned to scrub of my dirt/wood jump

And steep means height, evened out means length, get it in the middle. Especially if it's nothing huge, and I'm suspecting ur flat landing??
