I bought a genuine Honda gasket kit A for rebuilding the engine on my XR250 (98 model). The kit comes with a muffler gasket so I decided to replace the old one. The new muffler gasket is too small for the exhaust system, meaning it won't fit onto the header-pipe junction and it is too loose in the exhaust pipe junction. I checked the part-nos for the header pipes between the 98 model and the 04 model and they are the same. Perhaps I am doing something wrong here...but all of the other parts fit the engine ok. Could the wrong part have been included in the gasket kit? The old gasket was destroyed removing it, so it is difficult to compare the two parts. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Honda provided the wrong muffler gasket in the Gasket Kit A. I purchased the muffler gasket as a separate part and it fits fine. I have never had a problem like this before with Honda parts.
