Thinking about trying this place. I spoke to someone from Ct parks and he told me I needed either a plated bike from my state( NJ) or I could get a atv plate from CT. I was wondering if anybody has ridden here and did they check for credientials or just a plate on the bike. I do have an old plate laying around ,but no paper work. How is the riding at the dam?

Are there any places to trail ride in CT? I am new around here and to dirt in general. I would like to try some trail riding to see other areas of the sport. I ride a YZ250 if it matters. No plate, but I have a NY registration for it.

Puts a damper in things. I am able to ride some trails due to the bike being plated! If you were plated I'de take you along.

Not usually!   Ck out baja designs dualsport kits.
Most of the time it's not worth the money to switch stators and go thru the bologna!

Not interest at all in doing that. It is an MX bike for a reason, I was just interested in doing a little trail riding from time to time.

Oh, I was thinking about your situation yesterday. If I was you I would go down to Milford Riders MX track. And just show up a few times at meetings and try to find a member that you might be able to be friends with. Put your name on a waiting list and maybee ride as a guest!

You can get an off-road plate, to ride at Thomaston Dam.

Yes, you can register your dirt bike to ride off road at the Damn. Technically you need an ATV tag to ride on your own property in Ct. I was told recently by a DEEP officer that they can walk on your land and give you a ticket for riding without one! Never seen it though. I dont know what DMV requirements are for the tag though.

google ct dmv.

Can't seem to find anything on the Connecticut DMV site. Any more knowledge on an offroad plate?

It says ATV....I assume they classify a dirt bike the same? Thanks for the link, I will probably stop by the DMV sometime in the near future.

Yes, dirt bikes fall into the ATV category, and I believe that quads aren't even allowed to ride at Thomaston Dam.
