Hi.
I have a Honda MR 175 with no air cleaner under the seat. The casing is there, just no foam filter.
I have had no luck searching online for this part.
Is there a new alternative available or is there a way to make my own?

Try contacting dabbernz at eBay - I've gotten several MR175 filters from him (shipping took about a week). They fit great and seal really well. He always seems to have them in stock, but doesn't always have a current auction up. Here's a recently completed listing:

Make sure the foam sealing ring around the bottom is in decent shape - in most cases, this means it should be replaced. Use high-density solvent-proof foam if you can find it. The stuff that's used to package semiconductor chips is the right thickness and density, I don't know about solvent resistance.
I used an MT250 filter for a while, but it was slightly too big for the airbox and let dirt through around the bottom (which was probably the sealing ring's fault).
