I am done doing that. Not only do you lose money on the bike you don't get one red cent for all those parts. My 08 yz450 I thought was an awesome and very reliable bike. I thought I would ride it forever so I blinged it all out, lots of after market stuff, wanted a zuk 4 years later and hate looking at my yz cause its got a lot of nice stuff, it is in incredible shape and I should have rode it for another 3 years, clapped it out and sold it for 1500-2k. It amazes me that people on Craigslist are willing to pay 2k & less for clapped out junk & don't see the value in just spending the extra money and not having to worry about stuff on the bike. Not one call in a month of trying to sell her. I love my zuk though, you are right, nothing handles like a zuk. I will get the suspension done cause it does not like the rough stuff.

Honda, 34%
Yamaha, 24%
Kawasaki, 22%
Suzuki, 15%
KTM, 5%
And Honda and Yamaha made their 4-strokes years before Suzuki, so there were that many more made, so there are that many more out there still.
The fact that they are less popular is why I'm most likely switching back to Honda. There are much less aftermarket parts available, and I've found OEM parts scarce as well. And since there are less bikes out there, there are not nearly as much used parts available. Which in turn means there are less people looking, so the parts aren't worth much anyway. I basically gave away a Suzuki engine I parted out on Ebay for probably 75% less than what I would have got for a Honda in similar condition.
I do like the Suzuki a lot, though! Here are some pics from yesterday:

Funny, you took the words right out of my mouth.
I would never buy or sell a bike based on the perception that parts are easier or harder to find/sell/buy. I prefer riding what gives me the most pleasure...I've tried a few and the RMZ has magical qualities that can only be appreciated.

I agree, I've had a lot of bikes in the last 5 years and I'm really happy with my RMZ. Recently picked up a old 07 RM250 to compliment it. Been asking myself why didn't I buy a suzuki years ago and why they don't sell the RM250 anymore? They make great practice bikes for racing a rmz. And it's cool being the only guy on the gate with a suzi.
