Why is the zuk forum not very active?  The yz forum is always busy.  Is this because there are way more yamis in use.  Or is it cause they suck and the zuk need not ask all these questions?

I've noticed a lack of traffic in this forum myself. I'd assume b/c most post are from people having issues and needing help. We're all out riding. =-)

My main riding partner is a "Blue" fan. He recently sold his YZ250 which had many high dollar failures. He still has three of them. He still sometimes doesn't have anything to ride on the weekends because he's busy fixing the latest catastrophic failure! His last big one was when his 2010 YZ450F transmission locked up! That one cost him $2000.00. I've owned two Yamahas in the past and both of them at some point had me walking back to the truck. When the first one came apart I thought to myself " Okay stuff happens!" When I bought the second one and it crapped on me too...I said no more blue! Anyway he won't budge from Yamaha. I'm somewhat brand loyal but not to my own detriment!

I'd post more, but my RMZ just works good.I don't really have anything to say about it. I will post up anything that helps others, but I have yet to have anything to grumble about or get stumped on with this bike. With the manual, you can break the bike down to every single nut and bolt and figure out how to put it together. My KTM's and other bikes I have had-ther is lots of here-say and quirks that I haven't experienced with the RMZ. Pretty much if I don't like something on the RMZ-I just replace it with a aftermarket/proven part.I didn't like the stock for valving-so I revalved it.I didnt like the rear shock-so I got a Fox Pdium shock. I like adjustable levers,so I got ASV and a sunline. I got 20mm clamps, because I wanted a bit quicker turning. I wanted a bit more grab on the front brake-so I put a braided line on and more aggressive pads. I bent the rear rotor and the hose got weak.I replaced that with a galfer kit. I broke my brake lever and I got an outlaw one. I smashed a radiator and got a mishimoto. Other than the basic wear/tear items and personal tweaks,I just change oil, check valves and clutch....and just ride. This bike is my favorite yet. I have owned alot of bikes and was all about 2 strokes. This bike starts up quick, has awesome throttle response, hooks up like mad and turns better than any smoker I have ever had. Guess not a whole lot to talk about when everything is good.I will post some pics up soon of my bike and my setup for harescrambles. Worst I have done on it is a second place-and that is when I lost my rear brakes. I don't thinkl there are as many Suzuki's out as other brands (KTM,YAM,KAW) but there are alot more dealers and promotion of the other brands. Around me-KTM is really big. Them and yamaha. KTM is OK,but they are getting cheap on their buld quality and keep raising price.Yamaha-I tried and I just cannot ride them. There will always be the honda faithful...guess its liek that witha any brand. I havent' owned a suzi since I was 14. I am now 32 and wish I would have bought more-suzukis always handled very well for me and just fit me. I would like an RMZ250.Maybe next year.Ah,probably get another RMZ450.

I am done doing that.  Not only do you lose money on the bike you don't get one red cent for all those parts.  My 08 yz450 I thought was an awesome and very reliable bike.  I thought I would ride it forever so I blinged it all out, lots of after market stuff, wanted a zuk 4 years later and hate looking at my yz cause its got a lot of nice stuff, it is in incredible shape and I should have rode it for another 3 years, clapped it out and sold it for 1500-2k.  It amazes me that people on Craigslist are willing to pay 2k & less for clapped out junk & don't see the value in just spending the extra money and not having to worry about stuff on the bike.  Not one call in a month of trying to sell her.  I love my zuk though, you are right, nothing handles like a zuk.  I will get the suspension done cause it does not like the rough stuff.

I also notice the lack of activity on here, but i think its cause suzuki riders are not very common overall. I have alway liked the zooks, and i honestly only go on the forums to get a fux when i cant ride

Suzukis are much less common than the other brands aside from KTMs.  I just tallied up results by brand from my MX race yesterday:

Honda, 34%
Yamaha, 24%
Kawasaki, 22%
Suzuki, 15%
KTM, 5%

And Honda and Yamaha made their 4-strokes years before Suzuki, so there were that many more made, so there are that many more out there still.

The fact that they are less popular is why I'm most likely switching back to Honda.  There are much less aftermarket parts available, and I've found OEM parts scarce as well.  And since there are less bikes out there, there are not nearly as much used parts available.  Which in turn means there are less people looking, so the parts aren't worth much anyway.  I basically gave away a Suzuki engine I parted out on Ebay for probably 75% less than what I would have got for a Honda in similar condition.

I do like the Suzuki a lot, though!  Here are some pics from yesterday:

theyre a lot more common in my area, especially in scrambles because of the good cornering characteristics

I noticed this as well as i have owned a honda and usually received a response in that forum in minutes. I believe it is due to, as stated above, the lower production numbers and the lower commonality in the zuks. However after getting my RMZ i wont look back on other brands!

maybe not completely in context but i was dumbfounded when i first opened up and split my 09 rmz250, mostly on how simple it was (almost 2-strokish). previously working on older yzf's (not sure about the newer ones) but they seems to be quite complex with all kinds of extra o-rings, seals, washers, dowels, pins etc... ive had the same garage space for a long time and id need almost half the space to disassemble the RMZ motor... but i will have to say that yzf's in my area last remarkably longer than any other brand...

The items I replaced I either broke or didn't like. I never buy new bikes. I wait till somebody buys a new bike and sells it 3-6 months later. I got my 11 for $5k. It still had original tires, plastic,no scratches on the cases, original chain and sprockets-didn't think it was ever ridden 60yo man had it and just loved bikes. Resale will always suck and I will always lose money on bikes.Racing is my hobby-I dont drink, smoke, gamlbe. Dirtbikes are my only real vice. Before getting the RMZ-I rode all the 450's and even a husaberg and a husky. The RMZ fit me the best. When people ask a question here, they always get an answer. I think suzuki people are that smart they don't nedd help. They just ride and stare at there banana bike

Funny, you took the words right out of my mouth.

I would never buy or sell a bike based on the perception that parts are easier or harder to find/sell/buy. I prefer riding what gives me the most pleasure...I've tried a few and the RMZ has magical qualities that can only be appreciated.

I agree, I've had a lot of bikes in the last 5 years and I'm really happy with my RMZ. Recently picked up a old 07 RM250 to compliment it. Been asking myself why didn't I buy a suzuki years ago and why they don't sell the RM250 anymore? They make great practice bikes for racing a rmz. And it's cool being the only guy on the gate with a suzi.
