Was the best the early Honda Elsinore?

But sadly I dont know all the Gens or the 2 stroke
So what is the Best 2 Stroke Honda ever built???

That bike was a fork away from true greatness.

02-07 3rd gen cr250.

When I rode a 93' CR250 back in 1998 I weighed 143 pounds. The bike had such a monster motor ( stock ) that I went down the trail once and came back up and gave the guy his bike back, told him it was way too much motor for me. It kept trying to loop it and buck me off the seat like a raging bull with just the slightest twist of the throttle .......1/4 throttle
I love my 06' though and can't wait to start up my 89' for the first time after I run some preliminary checks on it, the 89' was sitting for about 20 or so years and is in brand new condition.

95/96 were also great bikes....but the king of Hondas was the XR50. No one, I mean no one ever had so much fun on those bikes.

I said dialed in. Stock for stock the 93 motor was the best I've run to date. The 02 has an 03 PC ported cyl. & head mods & I'm running race gas so it's making more power across the powerband. I'd say the low end is very good but not better even after the mods.

For the best of the best? One that has not been built yet. The world is circular. 2 strokes will come back around. History will repeat itself again.
Look at the technology in the Evinrude Etech outboard motors. Now if we have EFI and injected 2 strokes with new frames and SFF air suspension, sky is the limit!

1986 Honda CR125R.... I loved this bike. Was the best 125 you could get at that time and was a blast to ride.

I'm going to have to vote for the 2000 CR500.
Special place in my heart for that old steelie. Some of my best riding fun was on one of those at the Cali sand dunes.
Best engine in my opinion.

I would have to have ridden every thing they've ever made, right off the showroom floor, stock, no tweaks ...
And THEN, it would still be my personal opinion.
But, I think the best STOCK 2-stroke they've made to date is the 2001 CR250.
- Raped ape motor that is good on MX tracks, SX tracks, trails, and driving up and down the street annoying neighbors.
- Aluminum frame is not going to rust, bend, crack ... (exempting idiotic feats of bravery!)
- Reliable as any other
- Disc brakes
- Moderate seat height (even though I'm tall)
- Can be bought for a reasonable price, and parts are not scarce
However, since we all tweak our bikes, I think the 02-07 bikes are a better canvas to work from.
If you have a 500cc engine, you go in search of a 3rd gen frame, not the 2nd gen.

It was absolute domination by Honda-McGrath that time. Agree with Chokey that it was just a fork away from greatness.
I would buy one mint 93 if any offer come my way.
Wait a minute, wait a minute ... a '93 was a "great" bike for its TIME PERIOD.
Now, I'm not saying it is a bad bike, I'm just saying better CR's have popped out of Hondas womb since then.
RC on an '02-'03 would have spanked MC on a '93-'96 .............. particularly because MC had so much arm pump by then.
