Hello everyone

i bought my first DRZ a few days ago 04 yellow s model . mods are 434 big bore, e cams, yosi exhaust with fmf power bomb header pipe, 3x3 airbox mod and FCR carb..it seemed to be running lean and lacked power so i pulled the carb and it had a 150 main jet and needle was on second clip. dropped neddle to 5th slot and installed a 165 main and played with fuel(pilot) screw.2 1/4 turns out.runs better..question i have is i seen in a few stickys when you pull the screw that holds the needle in that there is a spring type thing on it..mine never had that..do i need to order one or is it ok?been thru a few 4 wheeler carbs but this is my first DRZ . it comes right up in first now no problem but still struggle to power up in second gear..15/41 sprockets..is this normal for a drz..with a 200lb rider?

Which fcr do you have?.What needle is installed..?.
For big bore use 155mj...

If it is Fcrmx ...Spring and collar is required
Coil spring.  Part No.1290-A65-200
Collar ........ Part No.1118-B36-20000
243 and 244 on diagram...http://www.sudco.com/fcrmx.html

If Slant Body Fcr (stock E) no spring and collar

no stamp on the needle, it is a brass needle with like 7 notches on it. i know about halfway down the taper there is a step in it

All standard needles will have 3 or 5 code letters near the top.  JD Jetting needle will be blue or red on the top but no other markings.  DynoJet needles I do not know how or if they are marked at all.  But you don't want to use a DynoJet needle.  A step in the taper???  I'd like to see that.
