While i was riding some people mentioned riding the bike like you are turning a screw driver not twisting the throttle like a harley. Im not use to doing it so it feels weird and uncomfortable, are their any tricks to try.

Thanks

Throttle control comes with seat time and experience. Just make sure you don't overgrip the bars.

The whole concept of opening the throttle like a door knob, instead of twisting it, is related to keeping your arms up and in control of the bike. Once you drop your elbow down, you completely loose the ability to control the front end. I'm for sure guilty of my elbow dropping under heavy acceleration where I have to re-grip to open the throttle fully. This is resolved through just practicing the technique and over-gripping in advance when you exit a corner. The other trick is to use a quick throttle assembly, so instead of a 1/2 or 1/4 turn, it can be adjustable from 1/6th to 1/8th of a turn. With that, you can keep your elbow up because you don't have to rotate the throttle as much to open it fully.

I prefer learning the skill properly first, focus on it for a few weekends to drill it into your head.
