why is it if I do a search in a forum and then read the first topic I cant return to the page?  It times me out and says webpage has expired.  This is only after about 30 sec of reading.  It kinda sucks, does it do this to anyone else?  Is there a fix for it?

What browser & browser version are you using? I need this info to be able to replicate the issue. I just tested in Internet Explorer 9 and can't replicate.

My guess is it's the compatibility view built into IE8 that is causing the problem.

Try this:

1. Goto tools (on the top) on Internet Explorer 8 or 9, you can try it for 7 too.
2. Click on Compatibility view settings.
3. uncheck "Include updated websites list from Microsoft".
5. Uncheck "Display all websites in compatibility view" if it is checked.
4. Click on close, and you are done refresh the gmail page and you are good to go
