My cleaning routine involves a power washer, GUNK Engine Brite, and a Tide/water solution in a spray bottle.

I run a Rekluse Z-Start Pro.

The pipe is from Yoshimura Factory Clearance, list $895.00, clearance $403.00. No, that's not a typo.

I would guess about 4.5 lbs.

As far as weight goes, this is in a different league from the stock exhaust. I'm not saying I can tell the difference, but maybe Ryan Villopoto or Chad Reed could. I had a KX450F muffler on the bike before this and remember the stocker being a real tank compared to the KX and the Yosh is lighter yet.

How's the power increase?  Were you running the full KX stock system before or the KX muffler and KLX header?

I hope it comes with the AMA quieter insert. As I don't like to be obnoxiously and uselessly too loud. But the loss of weight, maybe additional power and that amazing price made me do it. Thanks Mele.

Dual sport bike... that's why it's so clean!  (yeah - I live in CA and I'm jealous!)  Nice price on the exhaust!  I just spent $320 or so on an FMF Q.

Here's the dyno graph from Yoshimura....it's a full system on a KLX450R.  No way to be sure if their test bike was re-jetted or not.  Typically they will borrow bikes from people to design and test,

I was running the KXF muffler with the stock header.  I was afraid of losing low end power.  This dyno chart shows a power increase across the board, and I've not noticed any loss at the bottom; if anything, it's better.

It comes with an AMA legal insert for 07-08 standards which is 99db. A spark arrester insert kit is available separately from Yoshimura.

I think it sounds perfect with the insert, but I'm sure I'll try removing it soon just to compare.  It's not obnoxious at low rpm but has a healthy bark when you get on it.

The CF/TI system is the Ferrari of exhausts at a Chevy price...until they are sold out.  Other retailers told me the clearance price is below the wholesale cost of the SS/AL systems.  I bought it even without being sure it would fit the KLX; figured it could flip it on eBay if it didn't fit.

Thank you for the info Mele, I have ordered it. Hopefully will get to my home soon. I just talked to the guy at Yoshimura and he said that this is for the KX, but in their comparison charts on their website, that SKU is also used for the KLX.
But your pictures are proof that it works perfectly with our bike. Thanks again.

Happy to help out fellow KLX450R owners...a few installation tips....

The instructions tell you to remove the copper gasket b/w the original header and the cylinder head.  I wasn't even sure there was a gasket on mine but after some careful scraping and prying it came out.  If you can remove it without destroying it then you are better than me.  It's a cheap part to buy if you ever decide to put the original exhaust back on.

Also, the system is shipped with the midpipe attached to the muffler.  Mine wouldn't fit the bike the way it came so don't assume these two parts are mated correctly at the factory.  You can move the midpipe in and out and rotate it inside the muffler to make the muffler and midpipe bolts fit the bike.  All of the pipe joints are very tight, even after some lube and light sanding with fine grit sandpaper...kind of a pain with installation, but otherwise a tight connection is better than a leaky one.

Also, I had to trim the number plate slightly.  This was not unexpected because the instructions for the KLX-specific model mention this as an optional step.  I will post a picture my my trimmed plate if you guys want to see how I did mine.

Yes, please post as many pictures as possible since I will be trying to do it this weekend. Thank you.

Is this because this pipe is really meant for the KX of the same year?  Or even with the KX you would have had to cut the number plate??
