late response, but I have had many jetskis in my time. The stand up are for true addicts . The stuff you see on tv jumping 3 foot waves 8 ft high is not what a newguy will want to do. Trust me 4 ft high on a jetski landing on water is like concrete. Also do not recommend a 2 seater, they are tippy and you will lust for the people cruising on 3 seaters if the water is choppy. If you get a 3 seater make sure it is supercharged or turbo, 200+ horsepower are so fast it feel like you cannot hold on at full throttle.  Craigslist is the cheapest place.

The Polaris two seaters were not tippy. The only good about the true couch boats is the ability to pull a tuber.
My SL 750 would scream and do 50 easily and was very stable. until you tried carving in the chop. I loved the Polaris hull design on the 785. I hate they quit making the only ski with a USA tag.
