Last Tuesday with the GoPro

I've had this GoPo camera for almost a year now.  I kept threatening to take it on a ride, but somehow never got around to doing so.  So finally, I charged up the battery and toted it out to my favorite trail riding spot last Tuesday.  I don't know anything about editing or adding soundtrack yet, so all the footage is unedited.  But here is a bit of the singletrack at the high desert.  If I seem to pause a lot on the trail, it's because I don't want to lose my riding buddy.  It's really easy to get lost and disoriented out there, if you don't know the trails.

That area looks really fun to ride. Where is this? Somewhere South East of me I bet. If you available to ride weekdays PM me.

The area is south of almost everybody.   It's just a few miles north of the border.  Desertjul took the tour last winter while she was visting family out here.

Well dirt duchess it is obvious that you are a very good rider and probably know the area very well. It shows in your mad skills! I would like to critique you just slightly though and I hope you do not take this the wrong way. I know you did not ask for my opinion..................So please don't yell at me to loud for saying so.

Ok, I think when you take a riding buddy that does not know their way around you should do 1 of 2 things to make their trip, and possibly yours a little better.
1) When you come to an intersection and you wait (as you did), just pause a second longer and let them come all the way to your back tire with out making them stop. This will get them back into the game and they will probably ride a little bit faster during the time they can see you and being able to see the speed at which you are taking turns.
2) Slow down just slightly to where you think you are pushing them but not completely loosing them. As long as they can see you they will ride faster and get better. When they loose sight of you they will tend to slow up and the nerves will take over. They wont push the next corner.

Either way I think you are an awesome rider. I only say this as there was a time when I was that person at the back of the pack. I really did not like it when I was "alone" and did better when I had a visual to follow. I try to always remember that when people go riding with me. Unfortunately I am getting older and it seems that it is not that often I have to worry about loosing any one!

Keep the vids coming. I like them the way they are. The sound of the bike is music to me!

No offense taken.  And by the way, the rider that was behind me was 66 years old.  I only hope that I can ride as good as he does when I am ten years older, or that I can ride at all. The only reason that I didn't ride a little slower is that I wanted the video to look the best that it could and flow smoothly and  evenly.  And I am in the same boat when I ride with some of the local pros.  They get way ahead of me.  I just feel bad that they have to wait for me at various junctions.  When I have guests, I try to pick routes that will be interesting and challenging to them without being intimidating or dangerous.  Sometimes I am wrong about their skill levels, and I have to reroute.

Don't get me wrong the video did look good. So you mean you have celebrated your 27th anniversary of your 29 birthday! Holly crap I only hope that I can still ride as good as you in 12 more years!
