Anyone know if the gate is open to access Georgetown?  Are the trails still a mess?  How about Stonyford?  I've got a week off of work and wanna know which is the better choice next week.

According to the recordings GT is closed and Stony is open.  Stony drains and drys fairly well and the trails will actually start to get dusty quickly.

As of 8 AM on 4/6/2012, there has been 48 hours of drying weather at the Georgetown Ranger Station. The west zone trails of the Rock Creek Trail System are now open for OHVs, bicycles and equestrians. The storms in March have knocked down many trees on the east zone, so those trails remain closed until we have time to check for and clear the down trees blocking the trails. The roads and trails in the Southern Deer Winter Range Seasonal Closure Area remain closed until May 2.

Please pass on to your contacts and organizations. Weather conditions can change quickly, so please call (530) 333-4312 for the latest information for the status of the Rock Creek Trails. Thank you for your cooperation.

Thanks for the great response about Geogetown!  Maybe I'll get lucky and ride both next week.

Rode Stoney yesterday and conditions are perfect, although the snow level is about 4500 feet, which means the top half of Trail 6 is impassable. The teen trails are good. Some of the river crossings are interesting as the runoff is high.
They dozed Crackerbox which makes it a lot of work to reach the top as it's pretty loose, and makes for a fast trip down.

As of 7:40 AM on 4/7/2012, the trails in the snow closure zone (east side) of the Rock Creek Trail System are now open for OHVs, bicycles and equestrians.  Thanks to the extra efforts of Ben Scott, John Ward and Susan Cook for clearing the down trees from the March storms.  Remember that the trails and roads in the Southern Deer Winter Range Seasonal Closure Area are still closed until May 2.

Please pass on to your contacts and organizations.  Weather conditions can change quickly, so please to call (530) 333-4312 for the latest information on the status of the Rock Creek Trails.  Thank you for your cooperation and remember to tread lightly.

To All,
As of 7:16 AM on 4/12/2012, we measured over 1.5 inches of cumulative rainfall at the Georgetown Ranger Station. This is enough rain to trigger a closure of all of the Rock Creek Trails for OHVs, bicycles and equestrians. The trails will remain closed until there has been 48 hours of drying weather.

Please pass on to your contacts and organizations. Weather conditions can change quickly, please call (530) 333-4312 for the latest information on the status of the Rock Creek Trails. Thank you for your cooperation.
