They say anymore than 2 pounds a week is unhealthy. You used the right word "lifestyle", no such thing as a diet, it will just return if you don't change your lifestyle. I eat smart during the week and work out for an hour at least 4 days a week, I do mostly intense cardio intervals, circuit training and lots of core stuff cause that is the area I have neglected the most my life. I still eat what I want for summer but I control my portions depending on what we are having or I fill up on more vegies before I dig into the other good but bad stuff. Weekends I am usually out riding or bike riding or swimming, lake, etc so I eat what I want for dinner and allow one day a week to be as a big of a pig as I want. I dont care if I ever have abs like I used to, but a flatter tummy and nicer chest would be nice, everything else is lean and trim, I carry all my weight in my tummy. I am only 20 pounds over weight though so its not like I am trying to lose 60 by summer.
Mostly my goals are to be able to ride a hard 10 laps without getting tired, which I can do, but the hands won't cooperate so hopefully I / my doc get this under control, it is getting better, but my neck is still causing a lot of problems with dead hands. Welcome to Thumpertalk

But yes, i think 2.5lbs is the most u should plan to lose in a week. And if you do not have a lot to lose, it gets even harder to accomplish. So don't get discouraged, just know you are making the changes, and doin the right things, and it will come off. I'd suggest a website or app to track what you eat, eventually you kinda just know...like a mental calculator. Got the point i knew the label on most of the stuff i ate, or what diff fruits/veggie were. But i got obsessed to the point i wouldnt eat a cracker. What it took for me. Most importantly, SERVING SIZE....pay super close attention to those, shocking how small they can be.
Now if only I could get that mentality back, and re-practice all the crap i DID....been a slacker for a bit now....gainin on me...literally. Soon...soon.

Ah...to be young. Keep drinking milk (and protein) and lift heavy weight 4 times a week, and you'll keep growing.

Well said, build muscle in the gym and a 6 pack in the kitchen. And not a beverage lol.
To be as fresh on the last lap of a moto as I was on the first lap.
