I want to lose 2 to 3 lbs per week to have a flat tummy. I'm keeping a healthy lifestyle right now. Eating only fruits and vegetables. How about you? What is your ultimate fitness vision?

They say anymore than 2 pounds a week is unhealthy.  You used the right word "lifestyle", no such thing as a diet, it will just return if you don't change your lifestyle.  I eat smart during the week and work out for an hour at least 4 days a week, I do mostly intense cardio intervals, circuit training and lots of core stuff cause that is the area I have neglected the most my life.  I still eat what I want for summer but I control my portions depending on what we are having or I fill up on more vegies before I dig into the other good but bad stuff.  Weekends I am usually out riding or bike riding or swimming, lake, etc so I eat what I want for dinner and allow one day a week to be as a big of a pig as I want.  I dont care if I ever have abs like I used to, but a flatter tummy and nicer chest would be nice, everything else is lean and trim, I carry all my weight in my tummy.  I am only 20 pounds over weight though so its not like I am trying to lose 60 by summer.

Mostly my goals are to be able to ride a hard 10 laps without getting tired, which I can do, but the hands won't cooperate so hopefully I / my doc get this under control, it is getting better, but my neck is still causing a lot of problems with dead hands.  Welcome to Thumpertalk

Wow! Thank you for that info.. now I know I am not doing something right. Because I want to lose weight faster, that's why I think I am pushing myself too hard.

Do you want to lose weight or lose fat? They are two totally different mindsets. If you want to have a flat belly, then you need to eat appropriately. Remember, six packs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym (although the gym helps...)

Here's a couple good articles on the belly/abs:

Also, be careful with the fruit....while its good to have some, overdoing it adds up the carbs fast. Stick to those lower in carbs per serving. Obviously you do not want a crazy low carb diet, because it is a diet. Its very hard to keep a LOW carb # for a long time. I did it for about a year @ 50-65g a day max, and it worked. But the whole idea in todays world is tough. So if you are going to eat em, then yes itd be better if it was fruit. I just find its better to limit to 1-2 servings a day, and if 2, one of them being a lower carb option fruit. Bananas for example are fairly high in carbs, but also "medium" on the GI scale...so id try to eat those prior to working out if i was going to have one. Where as an apple which is still about 34 carbs, but 5g of fiber, is like 32 on GI scale which is quite low for fruit if i recall. This was all after i got off the SUPER low carb after i cut a lot of lb's.

But yes, i think 2.5lbs is the most u should plan to lose in a week. And if you do not have a lot to lose, it gets even harder to accomplish. So don't get discouraged, just know you are making the changes, and doin the right things, and it will come off. I'd suggest a website or app to track what you eat, eventually you kinda just know...like a mental calculator. Got the point i knew the label on most of the stuff i ate, or what diff fruits/veggie were. But i got obsessed to the point i wouldnt eat a cracker. What it took for me. Most importantly, SERVING SIZE....pay super close attention to those, shocking how small they can be.

Now if only I could get that mentality back, and re-practice all the crap i DID....been a slacker for a bit now....gainin on me...literally. Soon...soon.

Ah...to be young. Keep drinking milk (and protein) and lift heavy weight 4 times a week, and you'll keep growing.

I'm just working back into my usual summer form, I don't really need to lose weight. Work permitting, I usually spend about 2 hours a day on either the road or mountain bike during summer.

Well said, build muscle in the gym and a 6 pack in the kitchen. And not a beverage lol.

To be as fresh on the last lap of a moto as I was on the first lap.

I lost a bunch of weight and tonned up the gut by following these 'Moto Workouts' from a free ebook I found on the net. This was where I got it from http://www.MotoWorkouts.com And the good thing was that it not only got me in shape but really targeted my riding conditioning. 2 birds with one stone..why not! If you can ride though that really is the way to go for losing pounds.
