Did you eat to much food that broke the mouth? LOL Thats my problem, well, and beer.
Yah, I long to be 200 again but it's not going to happen, once you hit fifty you are stuck. I only wish I was as tall as you, I am at 220 and only 5'7"...HAHAHA
We'll let the bike do the work!!!!! Ouch...yea that over 50 part!!! well I didn't give up yet but I am losing the battle of the bulge today... Now Tommorrow !!! Well it's got a slim chance..... I have my P90X that I stopped doing after a week and a half and that was around 2 weeks ago... I'm psyching up to try again. .. but I went riding yesterday and I will ride again tommorrow for my workout... Hope to have some decent video. too. I forgot my camera yesterday. It would have been good .. great weather and we had fun. 52 going on 12.
Dam video won't load. Yah, my work out regeem is not up to snuff. I mainly get enough exersize running around in my work and riding as much as possible. My bikes do alot of the work for me but it gets tiring after a 120 mile ride. Gotta drop the beer and I might taper off to 210 or less, I know it's got the biggest effect on my weight. I am stocky not fat but my beer belly sure shows. LOL
I talked to my dealer and have had contact with Tim @ Beta, my bike is in route, hopefully get it in about three weeks. I am pumped, need to move out a couple others if they sell.
That is the reality of 4 strokes...weight.. That's why I still have my cr for the bust ass days and tighter stuff when we have to carry in sections and manhandle the bike.. not that that is that light either but it's a lot lighter than the 4t. That's why as long as I'm on a Beta riding it's the best..getting off it? well I try not to do that or choose trails that aren't strictly torture.. I've gotten to adjust to the weight more with using the power and some balance techniques here and there... Funny my Beta was supposed to be for light trails and I just started getting into more and more harder core stuff with it..It's straight out abuse that I give that bike.. . not that I will allow myself to get stuck deep in helemano in stormy wet weather. ...but I have gotten so comfortable with the bike and gotten more adjusted than I ever expected. I'll tell you what has made a huge difference although it makes the bike look kinda lame...My luggage rack!!! .. in the back of my bike makes a world of difference. Grabbing that plastic fender in back just doesn't give the leverage and easier grabbing that the rack has...but of course I have the older model Beta that doesn't have as great of a grab area as the new models. I've gotten an animal handle grab handle for my cr in the same area too as that makes moving the bike much easier. Actually I've been kind of going back and forth on should I upgrade my Beta but I've been thinking of the 498. I've got to just try a 350 . Then I'll know more what guys are liking.. there's too much buzz on it . I've just not wrapped my head around a 350 when the 498/520 being the same weight but obviously from lots that I come in contact with the 350 is the latest that is in demand. I guess it's because I have my 2 stroke cr for the lighter ride element. Do you have a price in mind?... I guess I'll pm you later on it or talk to Joe. I'm guessing you are going 2 stroke as far as 2 stroke but didn't you have a 300 ktm? Maybe a gasgas is a better fit with a lower seat height ?... How is the seat height on the newer Betas? I kinda forget but I don't think it's much higher than my 09. The ktm's are higher though.
..
I do still have my 2011 300xc which I really like. Lots of power, just light enough for me to yank back onto the trail when after it slips off the side. Still have to get the suspension sorted, but It'll have to do for this weekend's Mauna Kea 200...
The KTM is REALLY tall, I had to lower it so I could be somewhat comfortable in the nasty stuff where foot dabbing is frequent. The Beta is lower, enough so that I'd consider not lowering it if I were gonna keep it. The grab handles are nice, but a bit small so that I'd still probably add a tugger strap. If it's a dry day, I'd ride the Beta anywhere all the time. But you know how it is here, it could be beautiful on the entire island but raining at the park! I have ridden the Beta on a wet day and it was great, except for the two occasions that picking up the bike was required. That was a lot of energy spent for me and the other guys pushing/pulling the bike
I'll most likely be riding the Beta at Kahuku next time I'm there since my KTM will need R & R after Mauna Kea. You are more than welcome to take it on a test ride to see what they're like. Not sure if you know Matt T, Joe's friend that had the earlier gen 525 Beta? He took one ride on Joe's 2011 400RS and promptly sold his bike and bought a new 2012 350RS. He said the new chassis feels a lot better. BTW my 350RR is really a converted RS so it will be street legal, we're just waiting on the proper documentation from Beta.
I always get teased by my friend Big Joe (6'2", 260lbs of solid muuscle) that I should put CR85 wheels on my bikes so I can reach the ground better so the CRF80 jokes are un-original! haha. But truth be told I can ride through the nasty stuff just as easy on my BBR230 mini (16" rear 19" front) just as easy as any other bike. I feel like I'm 6 feet tall, it's great! I don't mind the heckling, it's all in fun and I definitely used my small stature to my advantage for the 20 years I was roadracing. Being small/light is like free horsepower on a roadrace bike! Now trying to figure out how to ride these dirt bikes compared to street stuff???
This is a favorite video of what we sometimes ride in, probably a repost but I never get tired of it.

Do we have a new addition making it's way to the stable?

It's going to be cool seeing more of these Beta's on the trail!!
Thanks for the update info. I know the new bike is better but I'm just not ready to transition just yet...I've ridden Joe's 2010 520rr that he had and it was great. ..and thanks for the invite to try your 350. I might take you up on that... Good luck in the MK200!!! have fun!..and pad up! don't let that lava rock have it's way..Thanks!!!

I think thats the worst video I have seen. Bike sounds nice though.
Yea I think that's a combination of a loose mounting, a camera that can't handle and Fabrizio's speed in brush cover. I think he has his mounted on the helmet. I just looked at some of my old gopro footage and it's definitely better. .must be some other brand. I've been putting my camera on my chest protector as I don't like too much movement from the helmet angle. He's hauling ass though. The quicker transitions from turn to turn is interesting to me..World enduro championship experience got him at a higher rate of speed than many.

I dont know how I missed this video! Holy shit man!
This is another excellent phaulgai vid.. I think I like this one better because I can relate.. You just get humbled.
I would have to say, that video right there is why I would cry myself to sleep. That was gruelling just to see the humbling looks on grown men's faces. Like, what did I get myself into?
