Oh man, fingers crossed on DOT legal and a 6th gear for highway friendly and maybe a speedo/odo thats not the exact same unit thats on my 1990 xr? DOT legal is a must these days, way to much goverment in my neck of the woods as 99% of where I ride is now illigal unless the bike is fully dot legal due to the closed unless posted open law. I was able to plate my XR but new VIN's are a no go

My source at Honda says there will be no DOT version off-road bike from Honda, ever.

He also says that the 2013 is a 'new' bike, but he will not cough up any details!!!!

Take him out drinking, I'm sure you could get donations here to get him good and drunk to the point he will tell all.

Rumored:

Fuel Injection, 250X style frame, 450R style plastics, KYB 48mm front forks, R based cylinder and head, but still a 5-speed semi-wide ratio green-sticker (not DOT) legal bike.

You didn't write this after checking out the sweet new wr450f did you??

I really hope Honda is not putting all their resources into the R models and this 250L (not a fan). I want to see a NEW 450X!

If you read the article, Honda doesn't have plans to bring it to the US. At first glance, it doesn't have anything in common with the R or X, except the PGM - FI on the R.

Nice looking piece.  I heard about the exhaust coming on the left hand side, but still trying to figure out why. Any ideas?

If I wanted a R, I'd buy an R.  Why they can't put a 6th gear out there stumps me.

Its like they want us to own KTM's.

Amen brother...  and Fi, whats up with that Honda?  It's not like you don't have some experience with it.  I LOVE my 450x, but once I go KTM, I ain't comin' back big Red.  You have about 4-6 months then I'm buying a new bike, and it WILL have Fi !

This is where I am out right now.  I love Hondas but my 09 450X is going to need a replacement soon and it will be FI.  My buddy just got a new WR but after three weeks, has not ridden it??  Hope to try that thing out soon.

I already jumped ship...............but kept the dual sport X.......
I looked at the 2012 WR450, and I do like it a lot.
But I've never owned a KTM, and the very small ergos (same as the 250SXF) and low CofG swayed me to try it.
But I don't imagine Honda's new X will be a large departure from the Honda formula. For good reason.

Let us know how you like the 500.  I had an 09 530 XCW and sold it.  I bought an 09 X as the Honda seems to handle better and doesn't feel as top heavy to me compared to the 530.  I also missed the link suspension.  Hopefully the 500 is improved.

Cause it's got street crap on it.

Welllll yeaaa....  But hellooo..  You put (at least some) street crap on your "X".

I'm just thinking the dirted "X" is more comparable with the XC-W while the EXC would a better (slab compatable) dualie than the "X".

Either way...   Congratulations !  You're going to love that scoot !

Where'd ja get it ?  How much ?  If I can ask...

Glad that one escaped the pending inferno.  LOL

Now that Yamaha has updated thier 450 I think its a virtal certainty that Honda will update the X. So you Honda guys need to thank Yamaha when that happens. Be happy with whatever they do also cause it won't happen again for another decade or so. The big 4 still don't acknowlege that KTM even exists.
