Anybody have any idea what a Beta 525RS RFS motor is worth? It has 6,500 street only miles on it. 500 mile Amsoil full synthetic oil changes and 1000 mile valve checks and short shifted by a 59 year old enthusiast that has been riding and working on bikes for over 50 years. The motor is perfect mechanically and cosmetically 10 out of 10. I have both factory Beta wheel sets...Motard wheels have 90% Pilot powers and dirt wheels have under 500 miles on OEM tires and are also perfect never been on dirt. I think the bike minus motor should bring an easy $4500 in parts since the suspension has had $750 in LT Racing work done and every part looks new...not a scratch anywhere on any parts or plastics....showroom new condition. Perfect FMF pipe and custom Renazco Racing seat. The big question on the part out is the motors value. Your input would be appreciated.

That bike looks really nice. The engine should bring around $1k or so, RFS values are starting to drop. I think you're going to be hard pressed to get $4500 for the rest of the parts or it will take some time, not too many Betas running around.

You might list it in some California areas. Since it's factory street legal and the RFS engine is pretty popular the value in Cali would be pretty good I think. If hadn't just picked up a 500exc I'd have been all over this bike. You've done a beautiful job.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you selling it? That's an excellent platform.

EDIT: My 500 already looks like it's been dragged behind a tractor through a boulder strewn field.

I'm selling as a fund raiser for my daughters wedding...I love the bike and have done my last 20,000 miles on Motard bikes but it may be time for a change. I'm not going to give it away but I thought it may be better to part it out. If the motor is only worth a $1000 that wouldn't make the price break for me considering the work. I may be better off selling it with whatever wheel set someone wants and selling the leftover wheel set later. I was hoping it to be a $6000+ bike to someone. Time will tell I guess since it is still winter in Seattle. If I replace it with another Motard bike later it would be a FS570 Berg. Thanks

Shame to see you part out that beautiful bike!  Would the SM wheel set fit the 2010 RR series?

If the swingarm on the 2010 RR is the same I would think so, but thats only a guess. I hate to part it also but I have seen it work out for people. Our Beta dealer in the Seattle area closed its doors (RMC motorcycle the largest shop in the northwest) and I think it hurt the confidence of buyers for this brand. The average person doesn't understand the great parts support for Beta.

That bike should be sold intact. Period. If you try to part a Beta you are going to end up with a thin wallet and a pile of parts you can't get rid of. And terminal frustration dealing with idiots trying to get something for nothing. And don't forget the scammers. If you were anywhere near me you would already have the money in your hands.

If I had the money I would drive over there right now and get it. Have loved your bike from day one.

The bummer is no matter what bike you have ....used the price you'll get for selling will be a lot less than you're probably expecting. Brand new bikes with a hundred or so miles are getting sold for a couple of thousand less than what a person just bought it for. So now even now for your pristine Beta ....It just wont get close to 6k.(hopefully I'm wrong) ..especially since the newer generation Beta's came out a couple of years ago. Brand new bikes that haven't even left the showroom floor are being marked down....and we're talking about great bikes. It's a crappy reality. It's a buyers market right now.... I don't know hopefully I'm wrong and someone gives you the cash. Your bike sure is beautiful. I'm really not sure what the market is for Beta parts but I can tell you one thing there isn't much out there for sale. Look on ebay world wide. You only generally see brake shoes and foo foo things for sale. The only used parts I've seen were from germany on ebay and it didn't look that good. No one seems to sell their used parts much. Even on Beta-talk there is very little for sale used. That could be good. small supply ...just don't know about what the demand is either. I'd go ebay and take a look at what sells there . Sell world wide.  If you do part out your bike I might be interested in your plastics for the side shrouds and number plates . Yur 08 is almost exactly an 09 anyway.. Good luck and keep us posted whatever you do. Off the top of my head I'd say keep the bike intact to get more money out of it. If I was guessing I'd go more toward mid 4's. I've seen used street legal 2010 520 for $5350 with some mods on the bike... ust a guess as I've also seen some for mid 6's too... Good hunting and selling!! It just seems a shame. That bike looks brand new!!!

Thanks for your input guys...I am thinking selling intact is probably best after your comments. Maybe sell with the stock pipe, stock fender, and sell with the brand new dirt wheels....then sell the motard wheels, fender, and pipe as a kit. We'll see....I just know that it draws a crowd and somebody in that crowd has to have some money LOL. We have a very cool "ride in" event once a month in the Seattle area
during the summer...usually about 300 bikes there and 500 people....I'll throw a for sale sign on it there if nothing else. Thanks again.

Glad to hear, When I get some time I will check part numbers or talk to someone to see if those SM wheels will fit my 2010 RR.

Keep in mind, they did not make that many "RS" 50-state legal Betas in 2008 or 2009 / with the KTM motor.  I think it was only 236 or so in 2008 someone once told me.   If it has to be done, It would make more sense to part out an RR, but not an RS with that valuable sticker and VIN arrangement that Beta worked so hard to get into the US.  For folks out of state its not a big deal, but for us down in CA the early RS bikes are sort of hard to come by and having a great 6-speed street legal dirt bike with decent suspension is hard to come by no matter how many miles are on the motor.  if you can't get what you want up there, list it on CA Craigslist with both sets of wheels before you part it out.  If you do part it out, send me a PM, I have a few things I'll buy from you for sure and a few spares I'd like to keep just because I know they are going to be a bit rare in the future and harder to find as time goes on.

I always heard it was around 300 or so bikes brought into the country but forgot which source this came from already.. I forgot if it was from my dealer or Betatalk. . Good point though. ..I didn't think about the possible good value from having a ktm motored street legal dirt bike... It is easy to get parts and I like paying $65 for a complete clutch from tusk/rockymountain for ex. It would be interesting to know how many Beta's are coming into the country in the recent years. To me that bike is just nice. I know it's being sold for a worthy cause. It just looks like new is all.

Bike was sold complete with both wheel sets and extra parts including stand. $5750...I think it was a good buy for him. Nice guy and he has been on a DRZ so he will appreciate it. This was a great motorcycle for me and I would own a Beta again any time. Thanks for your input guys.

That's great news.  Funny..., I've had several conversations with American Beta and the staff there about how "many ex DRZ owners are easy targets for the Beta" and they kept trying to say this was not their target market, and more so dirt riders looking for a quality exotic.  Last time I was there I told them again to wait and see once the DRZ owners started to discover what it takes to upgrade a DRZ and comparing costs, just selling the DRZ and moving to a Beta instead is cheaper cost and a better overall value right out of the gate day-1 - i.e 6 speed vs. 5speed on DRZ, better offroad suspension, 45lbs less weight, low center of gravity, much better handling, more torque in a stock motor without having to mod the motor and for dirt guys its a real dirt bike... sure enough, another DRZ owner converted to Beta.  Seems like there are at least 10+ more on this site alone who were former DRZ owners or at one point.  Good to know.  Congrats on the sale.

Awesome! I'm glad you  got a good price. Around here the market is bad and it's more of a buyers market. Your bike sure was worth it in my opinion. Hope your daughters wedding comes out good.

Congrats Dirtwiz!  Glad to see the bike sold as a bike. Sad to see the wheels sold!

Ex DRZ400S owner here!  Your right about the crossover. I know three guys that crossed over in the last three years!
KTM
Husa
Honda
Then me to Beta!

DRZ's are antiquated!
