Hello All,
I'm a new owener of a 2009 250x, bought it brand new!
If i'm not mistaken, I believe my bike is geared 13t/53t in stock form.
I'm loooking to get a little more top end because the trails I ride are mostly wide open dirt roads were I'm going 45-55MPH.
My friend has a brand new 49T Renthol sproket, do you think this would work for me?
Thanks,
Pete

That would be a good way to go. On my 08 X I run a 14/48 set up which cruses very low in the RPM's at 50-55 and will pull 70+ mph.

Stock should be 14/53 which has great top end already but still a good 1st and 2nd for the whitey tighty stuff... if your in the desert, that 49 would go great along with the 13..

Your other option would be to increase the front sproket size. They cost much less. You can get 2 or 3 fronts for the price of one rear. Once you find the gear ratio. if you want to change the back you can.

I also run a 14/48 set up.. people think you need that 1st gear for the tight twisties.. if you are an advanced rider you will have no problem with this gearing set up in the tight shit and its great in the top end.. can still wheelie for days in any gear with the 48 back sprocket. I would definitely recommend it, especially at 25-30 bucks a sprocket, its nothing to risk. Although you will have to cut your chain 3 links if you are dropping from the 53 to 48. 2 links to a 49.
