I live in calgary and was told I would not see it until Nov I am trying to find out what mods if any I have to make to the Canadian wr.I was told we do not have a gray wire and the muffler is different so it might not hinder the performance and I am not sure about the throttle stop.Bibbs

You 04 owners are not being very forth coming with the details. Those of us who are still waiting for our bikes live for any update on the new ride here at TT. Come on tell us everything from the first ride report to how the kickstand looks. We are dieing here. ?

got mine. airbox is different than the 2003, so it can't be modified....i don't think.

crank cover is different.

exhaust is exactly same, so i just slipped in the gyt insert.

there is no light switch so the lights are always on????? bummer.

Pretty similar to the '03 except starter drive modified to incorporate a 'torque limiter' to protect the starter and woodruff key, kickstand aluminum and tucked up higher. Haven't looked at the airbox on an '03 but I was able to pull the snorkle out of mine. Yes there's no headlight switch. Most importantly the jetting is much richer - 165 main is stock. Went for a 70 mile desert ride last saturday and it ran great. Stock suspension settings a little off. Front not too bad - maybe a little too much CD. The rear was too soft - needs more preload/heavier spring and a bit more RD. All in all awesome.

I was all set to get an 03' WR but held off when I read all about the problems they were having. Now that the 04's are here I am anxious to see if the problem has been fixed. Right now I am between an 03CRF or an 04 WR. I have never ridden either and am most concerned with reliability and ease of maintenence. Anyone try both?

Man, The 04's are lookin pretty good!! The aluminum kickstand in sweet, it's hogged out in the middle, not hollow but hogged out. I'm sure that Yamaha has listened and has addressed all of its issues on the 03's. Simon, I'm truly excited for you, You're gonna love your new bike, totally versitle, fast and very reliable... I'm jealous ?

This is how I poped the snorkel out:

First pop the battery out of the way (you don't have to disconnect it).

Then slip a couple of thin screwdivers in between the airbox lid and the snorkel. Position one screwdriver on either side of the battery strap buckle. Then grab the snorkel and pull it up. It's a bit of struggle but it will come out without damaging either part. Does this make sense?
