I looking to get a bike that does good on trails and can do a little mx. I think either the 250 exc or the 250 xcw would work. What is the difference between the two? Also which one is better for I want to do? Thanks

EXC = Europe  (headlight, spark arrestor)

XCW = North America  (closed course)

Trails and a little MX = XC

Ok thanks

Is there a difference between the XC and the XCW?

The XCW has a wide ratio transmission, the XC is a close ratio.

Too add to this, 2005 and older, EXC was available in USA.  The EXC in USA became an XCW in 2006 & up.  Also, XCs have closed cartridge forks while EXCs & XCWs have open cartridge forks.  OC forks tend to be a little more compliant (easy) with trail riding while CC forks handle big bumps/air better.  Both are good, just get them set up for you (and your riding) correctly.
